It's these people - men and women - who try so hard to follow "The Rules" or to act the "right" way...if you're a good conversationalist and the chemistry's there (confidence helps tenfold and don't let yourself be a doormat, either), isn't that enough??
>>I hate 'ranking' a woman based on looks
Why ??? A good majority of women do value themselves based on their own perceived attractiveness, so who are we to value them any other way ? And most of them think they are flawed anyway...which is good. The secret is to let them think they are flawed.Keeps them below 'market value'. :)
>> so by understanding HOW and WHEN to use a 'sincere' & 'honest' compliment, can and WILL work. Again, it has to be calibrated.
The rule of thumb is to never compliment on the obvious. Makes you very forgettable. She may say "Ohhh thaaank yeeew!".... and then in the next breath she will yawn. In fact, if a woman is obviously extremely attractive and the focus of every man's attention, insinuate some light criticism instead.
>> I think that you have big balls by coming into this forum and aren't afraid to speak of your 'chauvinistic' point of view.
I do actually. Enormous ones, and made of brass no less. It's a burden I gladly carry.
>>I'm not sure if by telling him that women are the 'weaker' sex will help him.
That is for him to know, not for him to tell her. If I may get serious for a moment, I don't believe in political correctness. Not at all. PC is nothing but censorship of the truth under the guise of not offending anyone, and in the process not only does it serve no purpose at all, it's actually harmful, because it leads people to think things that are not true.
As for women being the weaker sex, women are the weaker sex. There is nothing wrong in it. It's nothing for them to be ashamed of. It's just how they are, it's how they are genetically coded. It doesn't mean women have to be made fun of; those that do do so because of their own insecurities with their masculinity. But to say women are the same as men would be to lie because men and women are built and wired differently. It's not an accident or a coincidence that there happen to be two sexes in nature because each sex plays an important but a different role, and the physical and mental make up of the sexes are geared toward playing their respective roles. Both sexes are required. We can falsely choose to ignore the differences under 'political correctness' but that doesn't change the fact that we are not the same.
A whole movement began in the 60's called 'feminism', under the premise it was 'unfair' men and women should be different, and tried to use the power of government to erase all natural differences between the two. But the two cannot be made equal just by legislation; the differences are not small . So they tried to do what was more practical - minimize the differences by 'redistributing' sexual characteristics -- make the men more feminine, and the women more masculine, with the hope that society would some day be sexless ( forced equality through power of govt -- straight out of the socialism playbook).
And to some degree that has happened. On the one hand we have feminized men (American men castrated by a feminist culture), and you can find them all over, very brilliantly termed the New American Castrati afraid to be and act masculine, and we have women equally confused about their gender identity not knowing whether to be feminine or be 'strong, assertive and independent'.
>>we have women equally confused about their gender identity not knowing whether to be feminine or be 'strong, assertive and independent'.
You can be both, trust me.

No, of course some women liked it.
Sorry your first experience on this board turned into that argument.
