I'm on another "I'm going to be skinny" kick, and trying to figure out what the heck people who are skinny eat and not be hungry all the time. So, here is my mini survey to help me grocery shopping.

1. What is your typical breakfast?

2. What is your typical lunch?

3. What is your typical dinner?

4. What do you snack on?

5. How often do you snack?

6. Do you count calories or even pay attention to them?

7. Would you consider yourself in shape?

8. What is your favorite healthy meal?

9. Do you think we're too obsessed with weight?

10. Exercise? Do you?

Folks, I need a kick in the butt to get myself to the gym lately. I USED to have a motivator to keep me going everyday, but he's deserted me during my most needed motivating times. ;-)

I know exactly what you're going through. I lost 45 pounds over the past year, so I have a pretty good idea of what I can and can't eat to stay skinny. So, here are my answers to your questions.

1. A breakfast Hot Pocket (only 170 calories)

2. A Lean Cuisine and carrots

3. Usually chicken with some sort of sauce, veggies, and rice or a potato

4. I have a piece of fruit and occasionally some pretzels mid-afternoon, and an ice cream sandwich at night

5. 2X/day

6. I count them religiously

7. More or less. Could still tone up a bit and flatten the tummy.

8. Most of my favorite meals aren't healthy, but I guess I'd have to say a salad with grilled chicken is my favorite of those that are healthy.

9. Yes!

10. Yes, but not as often as I should. I'm having some motivation issues too. I usually workout at the gym on Saturday and Sunday and take a belly dancing class on Wednesdays and try to use hand weights at home on Tuesday and Thursday. However, lately, I've only been making it to the gym on Sunday, because I've had a bit of a social life on Saturdays lately.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll find a new source of motivation.

My body is so freaky. I have lost 9 or 10 pounds since about Friday of last week. This happens to me more often than it should. I go forever stuck at a weight, then one day, I've dropped a lot. I just hope it stays off.

Your meals look a lot like mine. I probably snack on less heathly things more often, so I'm going to try and watch that more.

Thanks for the reply...doesn't seem like many people are around today.

I'm not sure my daily ice cream sandwich counts as a healthy snack!

What is your typical breakfast? three-four different cereals mixed, with skim milk and then coffee

2. What is your typical lunch? a sandwich with one piece of bread or a salad

3. What is your typical dinner? lean cuisine or weight watchers unless I go out

4. What do you snack on? chocolate, rice pudding, candy.

5. How often do you snack? often but I don't eat a lot

6. Do you count calories or even pay attention to them? I had close to an eating disorder for about 5 years in my teens/early 20's - I counted every calorie - was down to 90 pounds (am now 110) - I still measure cereal and milk - I know, weird, and I look at the calories in something and I know what foods to avoid a lot of - like french fries, breads, salad dressing, etc

7. Would you consider yourself in shape? yes

8. What is your favorite healthy meal? a salad from Tossed - mango, egg, tomato, avocado and carrots with just a little dressing

9. Do you think we're too obsessed with weight? I weigh myself almost every day which is obsessive but I don't get too obsessed about the number - since 1992 I have been within 4 pounds of my weight and usually within 2.

10. Exercise? Do you? I go on the exercise bike about three times per week for 30 minutes at a high level and I try to walk to or from work several times per week, briskly (a little over a mile).

I would love to be able to eat like you do, but I'd be putting on a lot of weight if I attempted it.

1. What is your typical breakfast?

Cottage cheese and pineapples, or a homemade egg burrito (scrambled egg whites, low fat cheese, salsa in a whole wheat tortilla), or peanut butter wheat bread toast - something with a good mix of protein and quality carbs. ALWAYS a cup of coffee.

2. What is your typical lunch?

turkey on whole wheat with lots of veggies and mustard. No mayo, no cheese.

3. What is your typical dinner?

bbq meat (either chicken, pork, steak, fish or shrimp (and I live in Vegas - we bbq year round), a quality carb (either a small potato, brown rice, corn) and a steamed green veggie (I like broccoli the best.)

4. What do you snack on?

raw fruit, veggies, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese, low fat cheese and wheat crackers, weight watchers chocolate snack option bars.

5. How often do you snack?

3 or 4 snacks a day.

6. Do you count calories or even pay attention to them?

I don't pay any attention to them at all.

7. Would you consider yourself in shape?

Yep.

8. What is your favorite healthy meal?

Favorite healthy meal is when I take the time to make veggie lasagna.

9. Do you think we're too obsessed with weight?

If it weren't for my doctor's office, I wouldn't know my weight. I don't own a scale, I never weigh myself at the gym.

10. Exercise? Do you?

6 days a week.

I'd be about 500 pounds if I ate that much!! Ahh..to be a guy. You ate more calories in your breafast than I've had all day at this point.

Shy...who's actually getting hungry again, but only has jelly beans.

Well, I am NOT skinny but I'll answer anyway.

1. What is your typical breakfast? My low fat oatmeal cookies, banana pancakes, granola bars (225 cal). If nothing is premade, I'll get a scone on the way.

2. What is your typical lunch? sauteed veggies over rice or pasta

3. What is your typical dinner? nothing typical! Last night I had gelato...night before I had a whole plate of broccoli...whatever my body craves :)

4. What do you snack on? veggies, veggie soup, dried/fresh fruits, homemade granola bars/cookies/etc.

5. How often do you snack? 2 or 3 times a day

6. Do you count calories or even pay attention to them? I used to. I eat like 2500-3000 cal a day which is OUTRAGEOUS for my size. Anything less and I feel starved - then I binge. So I don't cut them anymore.

7. Would you consider yourself in shape? Definately

8. What is your favorite healthy meal? Spinach and artichoke pasta

9. Do you think we're too obsessed with weight? Yes, I know I am

10. Exercise? Do you? Yes. Ride 30-50 km a day, softball 2x/week, pushups & situps 2x/week...and I'd like to start getting back to the gym 3x/week...

Hope it helps! Have you tried body for life? I know LOTS of ppl that really love it...

Go.

It's NOT fair.

I watch Survivor (I admit to being borderline obsessed with it) and on the last show - the 3 remaining survirors got to weigh themselves. On average - the guys lost 30-35 pounds. The girls lost 15-20. Same diet, doing the same things everyday.

Men and women are SOOOO different.
