The mandatory double-bagging, the woman who blocks the whole aisle with her cart while she reads the back of every single tomato soup can...What gets on your last nerve about grocery shopping?

Grocery shopping peeve: Why is it EVERY TIME that I go to the store, I get in the check out line, and almost without fail the person in front of me has to complain about the price of an item? Usually it's like a 50 cent difference. So we get to stand there and wait for management to come up and do a price verification and all that stuff. How rude of me would it be to just HAND the cashier 50 cents just to get the person in front of me done??

People in the parking lot who think that getting the closest parking spot is a contest. Just walk for ***** sake. It's not THAT far to the door. Sheesh!

-- I hate it when the lady takes up the entire isle, too, and have you noticed that she doesn't seem to be very cognizant of her surroundings? Do they not care or are they deaf, blind and mute?

I think I'm one of the rare people who enjoys grocery shopping. I don't care if the lines are long, or how crowded it is. For me, it's a great time to slow down, be mellow and just take my time. (Yes, I'm a label reader, but never take up the whole aisle with my cart). I love checking out new fruits and veggies I've never tried. I love the people watching.

I especially love the natural grocery stores like Whole Foods and Wild Oats. The atmosphere totally mellows me out. If I can't think of anything else to do, I go to one of those stores to taste all the samples, buy a cup of tea and sit down to read a magazine. The one by me even has a wine shop with free wine tastings. Total dork, but it's cheap entertainment for me.

AJ, enjoying life with C.

*when the vegetables or fruit I want to buy are all mushy or wilted
*staff that constantly asks if I need help even though I have deliberately avoided making eye contact with them
*when they don't have a specific product I went there to buy
*when every single brand of a certain type of product has corn syrup in it
*when birds get into the store and poop on your head as you shop

When the person in front of you at the checkout line has an "accomplice" to complete the shopping. If you aren't done, don't get in line. I'll forgive the rare forgotten item, but some take this to extremes.

I am surprised NO ONE came up with this .. But the "special carts" they have for the kids with the car in front or whatever. Seriously those should be outlawed because their to freaking heavy to push. I never pushed one myself but I would imagine so.

Oh and another thing. You hands are full and you have a parent that is not paying attention to their uncontrollable kid who runs right infront of you almost falling on the child. Then if it happens your to blame.

P.S. I love kids, but parents are dolts sometimes.

I enjoy grocery shopping if I go at the right time.

I go at 6 am, on Saturdays to my favorite grocery store---finally figured out that they must be the first stop for the men who deliver the fresh sourdough bread! I also go before work on weekdays, also around 6 am to 6:30 am, and side step all of the peeves mentioned in the posts here. If I stop after work, I try to go to this one grocery store that has self checkout, where you scan your own items, and bag them yourself.

Self-checkout is a wonderful thing...except there are two pet peeves I have about self-checkout:
