I tried curling for the first time on Monday night- was definitely interesting (not normally my cup of tea at all, but was kind of fun in a goofy way) AND i had my first blind date kind-of-thing on Wednesday. So two very interesting things this past week! THanks for asking :)

Curling is a sport. It has teams of people and they push a stone down ice with brooms. Its an Olympic sport. Very popular in Canada, the Northern US and some parts of the NE US.

The city is starting to look nice. I was shopping on Saturday afternoon on North Michigan Avenue and the city crews were out putting up the white lights on the Magnificent Mile. Yesterday I went to the Art Institute and then shopping on State Street and I looked at all of the windows at Carson's and Marshall Fields. I still can't believe that Macy's is changing the Field's name. Depressing.

I work in the Water Tower and I had not worked in a week. It was nice to see the mall all decorated for the holidays. The glass elevator looked beautiful with all the stuff hanging from the ceiling in front of it. Im upset because I have to work the night of the Festival of Lights. Boo..I'd rather be on the streets WITH the people instead of having them mess up the store!! hehe

You want to hear something funny? Years ago, I managed a store in the 900 N. Michigan Ave. building. Of course, there is a lot of coordination that goes into making dure that the lights are lit right when Mickey Mouse points his wand at a particular store. Well, the building engineer from 900 would be so worried that he'd miss his cue that he would order complete radio silence for an hour before the scheduled time and until after he had lit the lights. Hehe. The security guards knew they weren't being monitored then so they would come into my store to hang out.

I never went to the festival itself. To danged crowded. And too many strollers and kids and people bumping into me. Last year, though, I went for drinks at the Four Seasons with some friends so we were right down there and could run to a window for a nice view.

I was at Water Tower on Saturday afternoon. What a zoo!

Thats a hilarious story.

Yeah the Water Tower was insanity. The seventh floor near Auntie Anne's looked like lower Wacker Drive..everybody all lined up...wowza.

We were packed all day long. I did cashier all day and didn't move from my spot at all. Made the day go fast thats for sure, though I was upset that one of my fellow co workers wasn't pulling her weight on the other register. I'm too old to work with 18 year olds anymore.
