Hey Chicago gals/ dating life update

Hi all! I really do realize this is off topic but I just have a quick question for the Chicago gals, like Jules and Ruby. A couple friends and I are going to be there in October for the marathon and we're not sure where to stay. I have no doubt that there are no less than a million hotel choices so I was just wondering if you gals had any recommendations. Or, of course, places to stay away from. Thank you!
And, just to not get too far off regular topics, dating news in my life is that I got asked for my number twice yesterday by two different people at different times. What's more strange is that I was having a really long day and thought I looked (and felt) like crap. Funny how that works, huh?

OK - I'll give you hotel suggestions if you agree to meet me for a quick drink while you'r here. Deal? Hehe. What's your price range? That will be the determining factor, really. There are a ton of hotels in the Magnificent Mile and River North areas. Do you prefer big chain hotels or boutique hotels? I have a lot of places in mind but I guess you need to decide how much you want to spend per room per night.
Do - did you give your number to either guy? Any prospects?
I have been out of the game recently and am honestly OK with that. With my knee injury and how busy work has been, I haven't had the energy for it. But I am going to try to get back out there soon.
Jules, sounds like a deal to me! We can email as it gets closer.
As far as where we'd like to stay, I know that the expo we go to the day before is at the McCormick Convention Center and the start/finish area is of course in Grant Park. So, knowing that we don't want to do a ton of walking and that we don't know the transportation system very well, maybe something in that area. However, I'm not sure that narrows it down much, huh? Also, we'll probably be looking to spend (I'm guessing) somewhere between $200-300/night. Does that sound reasonable? Anyway, thanks for any help you can give. :-)
Yes, I figured what the heck and gave my number to both of them. The first guy was pretty good looking and funny, the second seemed a little shy but if he's got the nerve to ask (and doesn't creep me out) then I'll at least give him my name and number. We shall see...
I understand being out of it. With the exception of yesterday, I've been out of it for weeks now. I just don't have the time to spend I guess. Is your knee feeling any better?
That is reasonable. There really isn't anything near McCormick place but plenty of stuff around Grant Park. Honestly, the buses are really easy to use around the downtown and Michigan Avenue areas. Cabs have gotten pricey, though. It's $3 just to sit your butt in one and get going.
Here are some hotels that I think are pretty nice:

Those are just a few to get you started. There are so many.
Hi Lesley,
Jules gave you lots of good ideas. If you need public transpo help, let me know. There is a GREAT site for that at www.transitchicago.com and it has a link called trip planner. You can put in your start and end place and it will give you several different ideas for getting to where you need to go.
As for me, I get to see R on Saturday!! He'll be here until next Sunday. We haven't been together since February 24th. Much needed visit and we're both so excited. Plus he'll get to spend some more time with my parents and might be meeting rest of the family too.
Good luck with your hotel search.
Thanks, Ruby. That will likely be very helpful. Especially the day after the marathon when I can't walk. :)
That's great your R is in town. That distance has got to be rough, I can see why you're so excited about the visit! Have fun!
I've only been to Chicago once, but we stayed at the "W", which was cool and had a nice view. We stayed for free, so I'm not sure of the pricetag.
Where did you meet the guys who asked for your number? (I am always curious about how people meet).
That's very cool. Enjoy the dates, if you decide to go out with these guys, and have a great time at the race. :)
AJ, enjoying life with C.
