I was doing some research about TMJ pain today, because mine has really been bothering me a lot lately.

I grind my teeth, have forever, and suffer from sinus issues as well. I've never been diagnosed with TMJ but I am going to be asking my doctor about it soon. Good to know, thank you!

Yep, it can cause ringing in your ears, too. I don't think I have that...but I do hear stuff weird sometimes, and that can be part of it, too. It's amazing how connected everything is.

After I read your post, I realized just how much I clench my jaw.

I was finishing up school and I took a new position, which I'm all ready about to leave, but that'a a whole nother story.

I don't want you made at me, so I'll some explaining. According to Sarno, most back pain is caused from the psyche, and not it's not all in your head, the pain is very real, I know a lotabout that cause I had chronic back pain. Sarno's research is about 40 years of patient research, yes, he is a doc and he actually talks to his patients, imagine that. He started noticing commonalties among his patients, the perfectionist, the goodist, the worrier, etc. The more pressure and stress we feel, the more likely we develope what you call mindbody symptoms. If I haven't lost you thus far, cause this is the point where some have cussed me out, than how does this happen. According to Sarno, these traits in oursleves, oh and I forgot to mention those who feel inadaquate, shame, guilt, low self esteem, any way these ttraits and emotions affect the subconscious parts of our brains, that control blood flow and it also affects the chemicals in our brains, hemce some symptoms are psychological, depression and anxiety and OCD. Physical symptoms can be pain, acid reflux, ulcers, RSI, carpal tunnel, TMJ, and the list goes on. You still with me, cause this stuff is highly debatable. Now you look at chilhood experiences, maybe some anger for whateverreason, your parents divoriced, etc. Now you add life's pressures, for example, your mad at your boss, your boyfriend, is this relationship right, I should be married, do I want to get marriend, should I have children, did I pick the right field of work, etc. Of course I don't know that, so the cure is introspection. It's learning about yourself, what makes you angry, do you have shame, etc. When I read Sarno's book I knew I had my answer, but it took time for me to find exactly what those answers were, cause I had some repressed emotions I wasn't really aware of.

You can get a mouth guard from your dentist which helps minimize the clenching/grinding somewhat. My mom has one that she almost never uses. Would you like for me to FedEx it to you? Hee-hee.
