For what it's worth...I just happened to have your post pulled up when my single, 42 year old brother called to get some Xmas shopping ideas for various relatives. I asked his opinion. He said that he's not put off by it. He said the only problem would arise when a woman asks, who he's not interested in which, women are faced with that situation all the time. Anyway, I thought you might appreciate one more man's POV.
If I were to weigh in, I'd say some guys will dig it and some guys might be turned off by it...Whether you decide to take the gamble is your choice but good luck and please let us know how it works out!

This is the 21st century. If you like a guy, there's no reason you can't make the first move and ask him out for a first date.
I wouldn't ask him out.
Ask him out.
I think it's funny that the 2 men are saying "ask the guy out" but most women (not just shy) wil say "oh no, if a man likes you, he'll ask you out."
I think that it's a self-esteem thing for guys who insist that women should ask men out.
Ask him out for coffee.
