How were your holidays?

I just wish I had more time off.  I have to say that I really have the worst boss, condiering I have been here 17 yrs. (first part time).  On Xmas Eve, I was waiting for him to suggest going home early but I guess he thought I must have nothing to do.  Finally I just decided to leave at 4:00 and he actually said "Every day is the same to me.  I even work on weekends."  This is a guy who doesn't come to work until 2:00 pm so basically he admires himself for working about 3 hours a day!  I said "well some of us like to spend time on holidays with our families."  So my DD came home Mon. night and is leaving today--I already miss her!  Xmas Eve we went to my ex BIL's house--you know you've been divorced a long time when you can spend the holidays with your ex & his wife and not even care.  I have to laugh when she is teasing him about become more like a cranky old guy.  Then yesterday we went to my aunt's house.  The only good thing about being back at work today is being away from all the candy & desserts that are in my house.

Yes it's hard to get dates if you stay home alone all the time.  I was with my friend from high school yesterday and she complains that her exH is around all the time and that she doesn't meet anyone and I told her that's because she never goes anywhere that men are!  We ended up going to an early movie and then to eat--hardly a way to meet anyone.

Oh my latest news is that I am having my friends over for New Year's Eve!  My one friend was going to do it but her kitchen is in the middle of renovations and it won't be ready (and has no heat--and it's going to be very cold).  She suggested going to a local Chinese restaurant that has a band but no one really wants to go there.  No one was really stepping up to host, so I figured why not?  My house is really not great but I think that as long as we have food, drink & friends, no one will care.  I have been cleaning a lot today!

Except the fact that we had absolutely no snow and had a warm, green, rainy and sometimes very windy Christmas, it has been a nice week off. Celebrated with my parents the first days and then it was a few birthdays in our families, followed by a bit of shopping and visiting the neighbours back home. I have enjoyed it all, but it is just not the same without snow and with plus degrees Celsius! I have never experienced rain on Christmas eve before...

So, New Years Eve tomorrow. No party or friends gathering in sight, which means staying with my parents. Having dinner, watching TV and hopefully crossing the road to their nearest neighbours. Which is all nice, but *sigh* I would have preferred a party. Or even meeting some of my friends, who are all busy with their families or having another couple or two over. It is not too much fun being 36 and staying at my folks as a single gal....I really feel like Bridget Jones in that retrospect, except my Mum does not find horrible clothes for me to wear, there is no uncle Geoffrey to grab my backside and no Una to say "tick-tock". Luckily! And it is not turkey curry buffet. Wink  But seriously, I would not want to stay home alone either - when I don´t have to and I like being at home. Anyhow....I wish I had an alternative.
