In case any ladies would like to know, I found all the cute, single (probably an over statement but I'll leave it in for effect) guys.  They were hanging out at a hole in the wall of a BBQ joint about 20 miles from my home this afternoon because when I walked in with my hair in a ponytail and not a stitch of make-up on, there they all were!  Ha!  Surprise!  I'd never been before and it's in an old house that has been converted.  I couldn't even tell you the name of it.  You can imagine my surprise when I walked in and it was jam packed with men.  The only women in the room were the cook and the cashier.  It was an intimate little place, too.  When I was waiting for my to-go order I felt as though my arse were right in the faces of a table of policemen not two feet behind me.  Mortified.  One of these days I'll learn to fix up a little before I leave the house ;]

I've never been carded for a cough suppressant.  Nine times out of ten, I do get carded for a drink, though.  However, I don't feel as if that's necessarily because I look young.  The fines around here for not carding are high and from what I understand, they'll fine you or even take away your liquor license even if the person looked to be ninety nine.

Do you not even get carded at stores like Target where they have to scan your license? They still ask for mine when I buy NyQuil! (And not the government regulated kind.)

Does anyone else find they get carded a lot more when you're out looking crappy? These days, everyone has to be carded it seems, but five years ago it seemed like if my hair was in a ponytail and I wasn't wearing makeup, I was far more likely to get carded.

Not since I've let my grey stripes become more noticeable.

(I've got Bride of Frankenstein stripes on each side at the temples)

Well I'm way past the days of getting carded no matter how I'm dressed, but it would make sense that if you're looking casual esp. with the hair in the pony tail, they would think you are younger.

It's horrible!  But I had to LOL cause I had a similar experience a couple nights ago.  Ran to the grocery with out a shower.  No makeup, hair barely brushed, etc.  I knew the chances of running into someone I know at the hometown grocery is good but I didn't really care.  I've seen them after workouts, trudging snotty & unhappy toddlers etc.

Of course, I had to run into I guy I had a crush on at one time.  Haven't seen him since before the holidays and then it was at work in my loverly work uniform.

And I had my 20yo son with me who was asking questions (although not too many as he's not as invasive as his sis)  Chin up!  Pretend you don't look like crud and smile. I tried that at least, even tho inside I was cringing and wanting to put a plastic grocery bag over my head!

I honestly couldn't attest to their attractiveness levels.  All I could manage to muster was a quick scan of the room.  It was FULL.  A few tables wouldn't have been intimidating but I felt as though I'd stepped inside of some surreal David Lynch movie or a huge organized flash mob, LOL.  System overload!

That's funny! They were probably all married, but we can look at married men, right? Cops like to hang out at the gas station down the street from me. Sometimes I'll stop to get something there, and there will be a whole bunch of them all in uniform. Yum.

So this is where they all are! I had wondered. In my neck of the woods there are quite a few BBQ places--maybe I should check them out! Ironically, I went to one last week with my parents for lunch and my mother noticed that there were mostly men there. She was right--but I can't say they were terribly cute.

I think all the available, interesting men my age are tied up in a closet somewhere.

I'll bet they all thought you were cute as a button, even without your makeup.
