I hate this day!

So much pressure to have plans. If you do have plans, there's pressure to make them spectacular.  I've been home and in bed by 11 (to avoid knowing it's midnight, except fireworks always wake me up) for the past four years. I'm sure tonight will be the same.

Please help keep me from being depressed today!  Who else is home alone with no one to kiss at midnight?

Oh I had to remove someone because she posted too many things about health & fitness--and this isn't someone I know from real life.  I felt like she is lecturing people all the time and then promoting an agenda because she does have a job that's connected to fitness.  Around the election people were driving me crazy too but at least that had an end.

My brother and I don't have any conflict or problem. It's just that he's very passive and leaves all the planning to the wife. Of course, she would only want to spend time with her family. If he himself doesn't initiate things with his family then forget about it. His family gets nothing.

I'm not alone this new year. Even if I was alone, I'm not bothered by it. I'm not really a new year person. However, I'd like to have a family that cares about me more than they show now.

Except for a few times where I have actually been invited to a dinner party, I have always been at home with my parents for NYE. As there is no "kiss at midnight" tradition here, there is not that much pressure of being overly social. Most people either stay at home with their family or spend the evening with friends. Many do of course throw a big party. But, I was home as usual. It was a quiet evening until about 10 pm, when we (as we knew already) were invited over to my parents´ nearest neighbours. They had their kids with partners + another person over too, so it was a good deal of fun. We started singing after midnight and it was great. Stayed up til 2. Smile I am glad we got invited, otherwise it would have just been TV until midnight and go to bed. It was so foggy that we could hardly see the fireworks that was in our neighbourhood.
