Make sure you ask the therapist if they have experience treating TMJ. A facial massage and doing TMJ work are two different things. If you request a facial massage it may be more relaxing (mind you, massage therapists are NOT allowed to say they give facials unless they have an estheticians license), and a facial massage may consist of facial cleansers/masks being applied. Explain your TMJ problems to the therapist, and they should do specific TMJ work on you :)

I would think it was a pinched nerve because that's what it sounds like to me and if so you shouldn't be putting heat on it you should be doing cold, heat just aggravates a pinched nerve.

2 first, cuz it's easy. Yes, go return them. :)

1. Personally, as much as I always liked chiropractors, I refuse to go to one now. After my car accident, I went to a chiro for two months. TONS of appointments. It helped, but never helped with the pain. I went to a physical therapist for

Would a pinched nerve feel like two strings of pain up either side of my neck?

Normally if you have a pinched nerve it hurts and you can't move your neck in one particular direction because it will "pinch" that particular area and send the pain shooting and so you tend to sit really straight and it seems to make it worse in my experience with them because you are stiff it's best to relax and put some ice on them.

I can't really explain the pain but they hurt.

It sounds like you need to stretch out your muscles. From all that computer work, you probably are stiff and tense. Or could be the ergonomics of how you are working (at least for now).

My PT guy would have me to do this a 20 times a day. Put your hands up at your shoulders (like if a cop said, "put em up"), and then push them up towards the ceiling, like you're superman, er, superwoman. hold your hands together and STRETCH. :) try that, see if that helps. If it feels really good, you probably just need to strengthen your back and stretch it out too.

I didn't realize when I'm tight, it's my muscles that are tight (sounds so simple, lol) and when I stretch out and do that stretch or others (like arching my back while on all fours) it feels AWESOME and relieves the tightness and pain.

If it doesn't feel any better....then don't do it. :) and yeah, go see a doc, or maybe a PT.

I can help your for the neck pain, but for the panties, your own your own there.
A guy named John E Sarno has come up with a solution for back, neck, and other chronic pain. He believes, as I do that the pain is caused from a period of stress, tension, worry, fear, etc. These feelings and personality traits over time cause a reduction of blood flow to certain areas of the body. Life is filled with tensions, and stresses and thenwe have the daily pressurs, am I with the right person, do I want to get married, am I inthe right career, etc. Over time this stuff stays with us and builds, it's like a bank account that stores up in the body, pain is eventually a symptom of it. I know this for facr, because I am living proof that Sarno is right, cause I had chronic lower back pain blamed on something structual. 5 years later, after really bad, and I'm mean almost crippling back pain, I am just about pain free. If you want, you can e-mail me,I don't know if I can send it to you, but my old one was y work one, and I'm no longer there. but the cure is really introspective, check this link out if ya want to.
