I haven't gotten around to posting this yet, but I have exciting (for me) news - I finally have my own car again!

YEA, STACEY! I know you have been waiting for this day. You must be so excited to have the freedom of your own transportation again. :) Do you have any long drives planned for the weekend?

I don't really have any road trips planned.

It's nice to have a mechanic in the family, or someone good with cars. My grandpa was a mechanic, and my dad learned a lot from him - so I rarely have to take my car into a shop. It's amazing how much money you save when family does it.

I hear you about the gas prices. I have been driving a LOT less, and probably won't drive as much on my trip as I had planned because of it.

OMG - I've put over $200 in my tank since last Friday. And it's down to less than a quarter tank. Why can't all the horse shows I want to do be in my back yard? LOL

That's awesome and I'm impressed that you learned your lesson and aren't running around blaming and complaining - you know alot of people would do that instead of trying to pick themself back up!

Congratulations on the new wheels! Here's to the future!!! :)

My dad used to be a mechanic, too, before he got cancer and was forced to give up his business. So, he actually did a little work on the car for me before he got it going. He actually bought the car for me from a friend of his for really cheap (like $300 - the guy could EASILY have gotten a grand or two for the car, but he just wanted to get rid of it), and he said I could pay him back whenever. So when I was younger, my dad always worked on my cars, and my brother has picked up where he left off. My brother, who currently works at a Nissan dealership, and his friend, who works as a mechanic at a trucking company, have just opened their own shop as a side project. So, I am lucky that I have the connections I do. When times have been REALLY tough on me, my brother's done work on my cars for nothing, and even when I've had to pay for parts, that's nothing compared to what I'd pay taking it somewhere.

I held onto a car for 13 years. The paint was fading, it was rusting, the air and radio were long gone, but I didn't care. It got me where I was going!

Glad you're on the road again : ) I went w/o one for about six months so, I know what that can be like!
