Can you guys help? My dog became really sick over the weekend and I took her to the vet and all the sudden she was in surgery. Now I really love my dog. Some of you may say that a dog isn't worth it but to me she is. It is going to cost me in the ballpark of $4000.00 to pay for this and I have to find a way to get the money by tonight. I have already put ito my credit union for a personal loan and I am applying for a credit card. But outside of that does anyone have anything creative. I about to start selling my jewelry. Thanks.

Have you asked about payment arrangements? That's a steep price, and my vet would allow me to do it for something that costly. But I've seen that vet for over a decade, so...

Still, it's worth asking...

I agree. I was offered a payment arrangement through my vet when my cat had expensive surgery. I wasn't even a long-term customer at that point.

I'm so sorry your dog is sick, and you are a wonderful person with a big heart to take care of her regardless of the cost.

Unfortunately I don't have any suggestions of how to get $4000 by tonight, and I don't think there are many legal ways to do so. But I do have another suggestion. Have you asked the vet if he/she will work out a payment plan so you don't have to pay the entire amount up front?

I hope your dog is better soon. :-)

I asked if I could make payments and they said no. There was a credit card plan that I applied for and I was denied for that. I had to put a $1000 of it on my credit card already. That maxed out the one credit card I had. What happens if you can

t pay? Do they keep the animal?

I would ask again about a payment plan - politely explain your situation, pay as much up front as you can, and ask if they can't work something out. It might not be something they normally do but they might make an exception for you. I would think that if they really didn't allow payment plans, then they would just not perform the surgery until you paid. I don't think they would hold onto your dog.

It never hurts to ask again if you have no other options. Just be polite and offer as much as you can. If you asked the office staff before, you might even try asking the vet him/herself this time. Vets are really wonderful people and they care a lot about animals, and the vet might have the authority to make an exception to the office rules.

Good luck - hope you get this resolved. and your pooch is healthy and home w/you again soon. :-)
