So I kept wondering to myself why in the world none of the "excitement" suggestions everyone gave me appealed to me as "exciting."

Hi Shy,

You can probably tell I'm not too busy today! I've been on the boards off and on all day because I haven't been busy here at the home office.

I'm with you about the physical activity. Although I enjoyed tennis when I was much younger, I was never one to get into sports or dancing. I too am attracted to the more intellectual things such as foreign films and art galleries, and bright talented men. It's not that I don't like some physical things: hiking around in a nice cool forest is great, but I hate camping. I want to go back and stay in the lodge. I did go kayaking not long ago and I enjoyed that, but right now it's WAY too hot to go do that. Oh, and I tried going to a gym. Last summer I visited 3 gyms to see about joining. I even had a one week free trial membership. Hated it. I do exercise by walking, but I do that alone (!).

So, I know, people are always telling me I should go do these activities to meet people, but they just aren't things that excite me either.

Going way way back to my scuba diving days . . . . I was attending meetings at the autobahn society with one girl, (an editor at the Miami Herald), and hanging with my cave diving buddies, married couple. I am not sure what there title was and am sure I could not spell it if I did know. .but they were scientist with NOAH and went so deep in caves they got to name a "species of life" . . how many people discover a new life form? (-: Me, I liked how scary and dangerous the dive was. Point of no return had me hooked the moment I heard it. lol THEY however taught me.

I was real good at the activities . . they were the smart ones. The two things are not exclusive of each other. Anyway . .. seems you have hit the nail on the head . . .ok . . .you like smart . .. what kind of smart? What DO YOU really like to talk about, get involved in . .. what excites you? I guess you have figured out for me I like figuring out people in general. (-: What is your passion?
You are a prime candidate for clubs or organizations, memberships . . politics? Clearly a volunteer for a campaign. Narrow it down . .. you might just have it easy. (-: Of the guys you mentioned . . can you remember any specific conversations that stood out as just fun and interesting? Any subjects that came up often?

Ok, that's a great insight. Go take a class or something then! Or go to a museum, or something along those lines. Or maybe the library has a book club--or I've heard Barnes & Noble has them sometimes.
