You will not lose weight by walking. It's one of these great myths out there. There are only two ways to lose weight.

1. Intense cardio for an hour at least 4 times a week.

2. Severely restricting calories.

3. Combination of both for fastest result.

#2 will work regardless of #1. Walking burns only as many calories as maybe a small oreo. So if you come back home and eat a small cookie, it's as if you never went for the walk at all. Cardio reduces weight by keeping your metabolic rate up even during resting - which is when the real fat burning takes place.

weight is a funky thing. Sometimes I'll make a pretty (to me) drastic change in my eating habits and exercise, and I'll be thinking "whoa, I'm going to look totally different." Well, maybe a little, but for the most part, my body seems to have chosen a small weight range it's willing to live within. And no matter how long I look in the mirror, it pretty much looks the same as it always has. Sometimes, that's comforting, and sometimes it's frustrating. :)

Toss the scale and buy a mirror, mussel weighs more than fat.

Any pro body builder would offer the same advise.

Thank you for not giving me a lecture on how to lose it.

"You will not lose weight by walking."

That's not true.

ITA! You will absolutely lose weight by walking! I lost 20 lbs walking back and forth from the satellite parking lot to my office over the course of a few months. It is aerobically effective and much less strain on your joints. I mean, you can't saunter but a good walking pace is about 3.5 miles per hour.
Also - the body will resist losing fat at all costs.
