I want to go out!!
| Sat, 02-02-2013 - 3:45pm |
I really don't want to sit at home tonight, but I don't really have someone to go out with. My one girlfriend posted on FB earlier that she barely had the energy to go grocery shopping. Thursday night, she dragged herself out but complained of how awful she felt the whole time. I don't really want to hang out with my guy friend. Plus he's been sick, too. My "old" friends never want to do anything anymore, plus with that dumb football game being on tomorrow, I'm sure they are all saving up energy for that.
I wish you guys all lived closer. I may send out some feelers with some people, but I'm sure I'll get back a bunch of no responses.

Same here, Shy. Wish you guys lived around here! My friends are just as you describe yours.... except last weekend when I went out both Friday and Saturday with my "single Mum of two kids with two different fathers"-childhood friend. She and I have very different tastes, not only in men, but in music and such. It was not fun out, terrible music and much too young crowd for me. Got more than drunk enough though, had to due to the awful music and all, LOL! So, this weekend I am more than happy about staying home by myself and taking things easy. But otherwise, I would love to go out more....
I hate when I'm in the mood to do something and can't get anyone else on board. I've been wanting to try out a hookah bar downtown for a good year and a half. I still haven't been. Good luck finding someone to venture out with you. I am staying in, we had a series of tornadoes come through earlier in the week, then two snow systems and now it's cold and rainy. Blech.
Hey Everyone.. glad you guys are safe from these crazy weather patterns.. Been weird weather here in Northeast also but I digress..
Shy;; I think that alot of the best times I had over the last few years in life were when I went out alone... No; its not easy and takes alot of gulping down and just convincing myself to do it and doing self talk in my head over and over but when I did it there were no regrets.. I would always walk into somewhere and people were so receptive to a person going in alone.. That is also a great way to meet men .. I find people would come up to me more if i was alone or if I was with another couple. They even had statistics where it said people who go out alone or go out with another couple have a bette chance at meeting other people..
Trust me I know how challenging it is but we dont always have others to go out with.. I think for me when I just go through the fire of each event in life it gets easier.. Lately I have been thinking I hate being alone without a partner but when I get enough courage and I venture out I just meet up with other people who are in same boat as me e ven if its at the local coffee shop .. I have even sat alone with people I didnt know at the movie theater and at concerts.. I read something in the law Of Attraction that says if we go out and just attach ourselves to others even if we dont know them we are already with them..
Anyway; that is my honest opinion and thoughts..
take care
Hi and happy birthday,
Do you have meetup groups in your area? I think it's a great way to go out alone but not really be alone if you know what I mean. I joined a bunch of them just to see what they had to do and if I had the time & money there would really always be something to do. After I got divorced, I had basically 2 single friends and one of them lives an hour away so I had to really make an effort to find people who like going out--now I have a group of women I can call who are single & like to go out dancing like I do.
I think that free is right about going out alone. I was talking to a woman Friday night at dance class. We have a group dance at 8:30 and she has a private lesson earlier so then she has time to kill. She's married & her DH will come to the group dance. She said she used to just hang out & eat a sandwich in the car, but then she decided to go to a nearby restaurant and hang out (and of course it's freezing out now)--she sits in the bar alone and says that people always talk to her. She's obviously not there to get picked up, plus it's dinner time so it would be a different atmosphere late at night.

If I'm alone & don't really feel like going "out" as in to a late night place, at least I'll go to a bookstore cafe & read for a while--it feels better just having other people around even if you don't talk to them.
Hi,
I really feel ya! It's really hard to want to go out and not have any single (or other) friends around. I wish you guys were closer!! lol.
I don't go out that often, but when I do go out alone, the main thing I'm worried for is my safety. I guess in university when we all went out we had eachother's backs, but I am always careful to be safe.........I guess that's the biggest concern for me.
