Some of you know that I've been having some health problems off and on for the past several years.

I've had 2 ultrasounds - one on my neck to check my thyroid, and one that was gyno-related.

Shy, I am sorry to hear that you are distressed. An ultrasound is, in fact, pretty nice feeling. I have fiber cystic breasts and am too young to have mammograms so I get an ultrasound exam of both breasts every year. The jelly that they put on is cold but then the ultrasound itself is nice and warm. It's like a mini-massage. I also have had it as part of physical therapy following knee surgery because, in addition to being a good imaging tool, it breaks up swelling.

Let us know how it goes, K?

Hey shy... I'm glad to hear your doc is willing to help you and investigate what's going on. I know it's sucky but it will be worth it to get some answers. An ultrasound isn't that bad, maybe just a little uncomfortable. Like Jules, I have fibrocystic "issues" and have had a few ultrasounds over the past few years. It can be uncomfortable (and cold!) but it usually doesn't last too long.
Let us know how it goes and good luck :)

I had an ultrasound scan to check a lump I thought may be cancer. It doesn't hurt at all so there is nothing to worry about.

A mini-massage on your breasts, huh?

All the techs I've had have been women.
I can't say I'd know what to do if a cute guy came in and said "please open the gown and raise your arms above your head." Sounds like the beginning to a bad movie! ;-)

I went in this morning and after about an hour of waiting, was called back and told to remove everything metal from my upper half- including my underwire bra.

Shy, so sorry to hear your ultrasound was painful. That's so unusual but you're probably right, it's a good sign that you're doing the right thing and getting checked out.
Sending you lots of get-well vibes! Take care :)
