Some of you know that I've been having some health problems off and on for the past several years.

Ooh, it's definitely a good thing you went in, then.

Hehe - it's always a technician and sometimes a woman.

Sorry to hear it was so painful. Sheesh. Did they at least offer you a lollipop when it was over? Pain does not necessarily mean that there is something serious going on. I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you.

I did some doctoring myself this week. I have a pathologic fear of the dentist and had to go to an oral surgeon on Tuesday because one of my two remaining wisdom teeth broke on Friday. Well, about 2 hours before my appointment I got the mother of all panic attacks. I ended up in the ER because I was shaking so badly that I could barely walk. But I ended up running out of the ER when a man sitting in a wheelchair in front of me had a seizure with some rather gory side effects. It was truly terrifying.

The good news about gall bladder surgery these days is that most of the time, they can do it laparascopically (I don't know if I spelled that right!

Did you end up at the dentist eventually and get it all taken care of?

I didn't get a lollipop or anything!

I read a ton about it last night, and I know it probably wouldn't leave a huge scar or anything.

I did get my consultation with the oral surgeon done. I have scheduled the surgery for the 18th of January because I need to see my doctor about the panic attacks first - I don't want to go in for the surgery and then not be able ot have it because of another attack. I can't see her until January 3rd and the next appointment the surgeon had after that was the 18th. What a pain. Luckily, my travel does not begin until 4 weeks after the surgery in mid-February,

It is definitely a scary thought and I always find that I feel loneliest at these times. When I ws at home crying on Tuesday night because of the panic attack, my ex (the one I am good friends with) came over and I remember saying that I hate that I am 32 years old and my mother is still my emergency contact. She will be going with me when I have my teeth removed. If I go under, she will have to get me home in a taxi. Blech.

I hope that you don't have to have surgery, Shy, but I know that you will be able to handle it if you do. I totally understand your reticence, though.
