To be honest, I've been cranky all weekend long.

I had to reply because the ONE yoga class I took I felt like the lady moved through the poses too quick and I couldn't even be downward facing dog long enough to feel the stretch because she was on to warrior or some other strange position.

I never realized how much an instructor could affect a yoga class, but it does make sense.

There are definitely some kinds of yoga that go faster than others. At my studio, we have classes called "dynamic ashtanga" and those are flowing, challenging, more fast-paced classes. But even in those classes, some poses are held for awhile. I think that's part of the point of yoga - it's finding the balance and connection between mind and body and breath, and it takes both movement and stillness to do that.

Usually studios will focus on one or two styles of yoga, so you can find out what those are and see if it would be one to fit your needs. Some styles are very focused on perfecting each pose and spending a long time in each one, while others are more active. Bikram always uses the same poses in each class, and it's always done in really hot temperatures. So there's lots of choices!
