So last week, I made the decision that since I'm on Spring Break this week, I'm going to look into buying a townhome.

Yes, it is shocking how big the price differences are from place to place.

My place turned out to be the perfect compromise. I have 500 square feet of fenced "yard." It has a dirt area that I dug up to plant a little veggie garden, I have flowers and I have a medium-sized dog. The other half is deck, so I can eat outside and BBQ. No trees, no grass and no major landscaping.

The yard and the pretty, landscaped grounds is most of the reason I chose an older complex (1974). The new places around here often don't even have patios or decks, and the complexes

The brand new "condos" I spoke of earlier are going for $92,200.

Hopefully I'll be able to find a compromise, too.

I really miss house hunting. It's fun to see so many different places and try to picture yourself living there.

(Oh, one more thing -- If you want a dog and get into a place with an HOA, ASK about the rules. I fell madly in love with a place and then found out they didn't allow dogs. They allowed cats, though, which annoyed me.)

HAVE FUN! I'd love to see pics of the good, the bad and the ugly. :)

I probably wouldn't get a dog unless I had a house with a fenced in yard.

Good luck looking at the places tomorrow!

I just thought of one other thing to share...when I was looking, I went back to each place after dark to get a feel for the neighborhood.
