I've noticed a lot of new faces so I thought I'd do an "intro" post.

Name & age (if you want to disclose it): Jules, 32

Location: Chicago, IL

How long have you been single? It depends on what you mean by single. My last relationship ended in December 2004, my last serious relationship in May of 2004. I have dated here and there since but nothing worth writing home about.

Are you currently trying to date or are you doing the "just be single thing" for a while? I am sort of doing both. I have been feeling a bit ambivalent lately. Part of the problem is that I am working a lot wnd traveling and this makes me tired. But I do make myself get out there and am open to meeting someone.

If you're dating, how's it going? I am only making the occasional, half-assed effort so I am getting the occasional, half-assed response. : )

What are some things you like to do in your free time? I enjoy attending lectures on foreign relations and military issues and political issues. I love spending time with my friends just watching movies or shopping or having a meal out together. I have a couple of hobbies but have not had time for them lately.

Name & age (if you want to disclose it):
Call me tallgirl, 31 as of yesterday - eek!

Location:
Denver, CO

How long have you been single?
9 months since my last REAL relationship

Are you currently trying to date or are you doing the "just be single thing" for a while?
I just came out of a "dating break" and I guess it's taking awhile to re-rev the engine. I'm a little blase about the whole thing right now, unfortunately.

If you're dating, how's it going?
Haven't had a date in two months, and no real bites lately. That's ok, though, because I really needed the time off for some relaxation and perspective. I have a friend who wants to set me up with someone, so I guess I'm game for that. I'm trying at all costs to avoid doing online dating againg, but we'll see.

What are some things you like to do in your free time?
I love to go out to jazz and blues clubs, really enjoy dinners out with friends, I hang out in coffee shops and read, snowshoe, ski a bit, hike in the summer, etc.

AJ, enjoying life with C.

Name & age: Mark, 52 (did my age shock anyone here?)

Location: Portland, Oregon (New Jersey native but been here for 17 yrs, undergrad in Boston)

How long have you been single? Last relationship ended Nov 2005, lasting 1.5 yrs, divorced for 6 yrs.

Are you currently trying to date or are you doing the "just be single thing" for a while? I am looking to date with the goal of having a long term, committed relationship

If you're dating, how's it going? I am getting dates mainly from online but I am not finding anyone that "sticks" yet. They have been mostly one time coffee dates. I am not to date just to have a good time but to find a partner

What are some things you like to do in your free time? Workout, be with my children, be with my friends to hike, bicycle, connect with friends, and look for a partner. Most of my time has been taken up with work, my children, and meeting women.

a little of both, I'm slowly starting to date, but I'm really enjoying being single

If you're dating, how's it going?
so far, dating has been fun, but I've never really done it before, so I'm actually enjoying it for now. I have always been in serious relationships, so I'm enjoying dating.

Name & age (if you want to disclose it): Trina, 25

Location: Austin, Texas

How long have you been single? about 2 months

Are you currently trying to date or are you doing the "just be single thing" for a while? I'm just being single for the time being. I don't know if I'm quite ready yet for another relationship, but if a dating chance comes up I don't think I'd pass it up either.

If you're dating, how's it going?

What are some things you like to do in your free time? I spend a lot of time with my dog, going to the dog park, taking walks, agility training/competitions. I also tutor a couple students after work and I'm going to start my pampered chef business next month so I stay pretty busy :o)

Trying to date but realizing I don't really want a totally committed relationship right now and am definitely doing the "just being single" thing.

If you're dating, how's it going? Last date I had was about 3 weeks ago. Was busy dating back in January and February, but for the past few weeks have just been recooping.
