Isn't it amazing how much who you date shapes who you are?

I look at the women I've dated in the past, and I'm very thankful that each one of them helped me grow in the right directions. I can see how they could have easily led me astray...

They didn't point you in a direction....you simply accepted input and ran with it to suit your own desires. Which is good - because the reverse is NOT good!

No wonder I haven't dated anyone longer than four months... the idea of letting someone else shape who I am really bothers me! But then again I am the Boundary Queen, and have been accused by more than one guy of "having a front up" and/or "not having time for a man in my life." Why? Because I'm a busy and ambitious artist and I'm very excited about that part of my life? Sheesh!

I dunno. I think that the guys I've dated have helped me realize what kind of guy I do and don't want, but I'm not sure any of them have changed me. I think that I've changed me more than anything.

I believe that my ex did change me a lot, just like I changed him. Obviously he helped me in my religious conversion (though was not the reason for it), and by having him as my "foil" for so long I learned tons about myself. Unfortunately, as much as he altered me for the positive, he also led me in other ways (I find myself lacking trust because he lied about minute things).

It's just natural that anyone who you spend that much time with (with me it was 6 years) is going to have a fundamental influence on how you grow, just like close friends, siblings, parents and relations.
