Joining a new group.

So last night I met a whole new group of people. I took a chance and joined a softball group and I met a whole bunch of single 20 somethings to 40 somethings. All enjoying each others company and no weird/false pretenses. I made a couple of girlfriends instantly. We made plans for Saturday night already.
I had so much fun. It was relaxed and everyone was great. Anyway, I know we all talk about joining groups, but it's scary to throw yourself in a mix of people and not know anyone there. But it was so worth it!
I hope this helps if anyone has any fears about it.

I am not athletic at all! I've been trying to work up the courage to join a group like that (frisbee, dodgeball, kickball), but I keep backing out because I was always the last one picked for the team in gym and I'm convinced people will hate me for throwing/kickinh like a girl. Ha ha.
But, I rocked at dodgeball.
I've heard so many people say it's a great way to meet new people, so I should just suck it up and try.
Thanks for sharing. :)
AJ, enjoying life with C.
I'm like you...I am not athletic at all and very ungraceful. So I would fall flat on my face. I used to play volleyball but started to suck in high school. I was also a mean first base player as a kid with the neighborhood games...but alas, that didn't pan out either. I would love to join an intramural sport, but am afraid too.
But I'm a geek...I love Badminton. That I will break a sweat for, though it takes a long game and an intense partner to do it.
