Does anyone else feel like there are entirely too many whiney oversensitive supposed adults in their lives?

How do you deal with them?

Yes! I actually find myself pulling back and not being as available to those types of people. Maybe that makes me a b*tch, but sometimes it feels like a vampire sucking you dry. I tend to be a pretty blunt person most of the time, not nasty blunt, but I don't sugar coat things. However, when dealing with really overly sensitive people, it gets exhausting watching what you say and not being sure if your honesty is going to be met with someone being offended. Sometimes I think people look for reasons to be offended anyway, so that makes it even harder.

I just took a class on "Dealing with Difficult People" yesterday. One of the difficult people in my office falls into the whiney category, and I think she might bother me more than the office bullies.

It is just draining to always listen to someone's complaining, and I have learned to limit how much time I give her. I say, "I really need to finish this project, so I need to get back to that."

It has also really highlighted for me how annoying negativity can be, so I have been more aware of my own negative moments and working to change my outlook during those times. So, I'd say that the difficult people in our lives are sometimes a blessing in disguise -- they can help us learn something about ourselves and grow. Assuming we don't throttle them first. :)

I think YG got it right - what I've seen so much lately is people looking for an excuse to be offended...then being mollycoddled when they get their widdle feelings hurt.

That has become our society it seems, everyone has to apologize to everyone else for being offended. Ummm since when can nobody be offended in life, GET OVER IT!

And the trend of bringing a third party into the mix instead of calmly and rationally discussing things....ugh.
