I know what you mean about the passage of time and all of us doing it together. It's just so bizarre. I think it is awesome that you're attempting to make a baby dress. I always wished I could sew, but my mom never thought to teach me. Perhaps one of these days I'll find the time for a class.
I too opted for nye at home. I worked all day. Came home and meditated. Had a light dinner and am watch The Big Bang Theory marathon. I think it'll be over before midnight so I'll have to switch to Psych. Either way I'll get in tons of giggles. If I last til midnight fine, if not I don't care =)
I'm watching Big Bang, too. I haven't even attempted to see if there's anything else on.
I kinda taught myself to sew. My mom sewed a lot when I was growing up, but she never really taught me. I just picked up stuff from watching her. I spent forever trying to figure out the instructions on the pleats in this dress. I got really frustrated, but eventually figured it out. At least I hope I did. The thing is that if you do one thing wrong, it can mess everything else up.
One thing NOT to do if you're home alone on New Years is check facebook. The woman I always go out with posted about having "a great time with friends" an hour or so ago. Gee, thanks for inviting me! She invited me to her kid's birthday party tomorrow and I've only met him once. But not tonight? And this is the friend who gets really whiney if she doesn't get invited somewhere. Not that I'd want to hang out with whoever she's with, but an invitation would be nice!
Okay... Gotta get back to that dress while watching AA vs PMS!
Hahahah! Sheldon's arrogance never stops being funny. Glad you figured out the pleats, I probably would given up and turned it into a pillow lol.
I dunno about that whiny chick. Every time you mention her I get the feeling you've outgrown that friendship, but at the same time I totally get how hard it is to make gal pals that will actually find the time to get together. Although it is nearly 2012 it certainly wouldn't hurt to try a few new things with the hopes of expanding your lady friend circle. I'm certainly going to give it another go.
Oh, I definitely wouldn't mourn the friendship too much if it ended, but she is literally the only female I know who is willing to actually go out. I've met other women through her, but obviously if my friendship with her ended, it would with the others, too. I've attempted to make other friends, but they don't stick. She is a very nice person most of the time and is incredibly loyal. If I needed her, she'd be there, which is an important quality in a friend.
I can say that I've met many of her friends and she's less dramatic than most of them. She's obviously grown up in that environment, so it's what she knows. Since we've become friends, she has mellowed out a lot. Now if I can get her to realize that she isn't the center of everyone else's issues, we might just be good.
I hope you get to feeling better today, Music. I'm not sad today, but I do feel physically blah. Part of it is because I've been trying to exercise more regularly and my legs are killing me! They are better today, so hopefully I can get back on the treadmill tonight.
The zipper was way easier than I thought it would be. However, the directions told me to place it too low, I think. I got to a point where things weren't matching up last night and then I quit. I don't think these directions were written very well because there were a couple of spots that just didn't make sense. So far I've only bought cheap patterns so I've been limited, but I might try a jumper when I'm done with the two I have. That sounds a lot easier! I also want to go through my mom's old patterns because she made a couple of dresses for us when we were kids that I'd like to make for the baby. They are all in the back of a very full shed, though, so that would definitely be an undertaking.

On to the zipper... My next big obstacle!
I wasn't feeling that sad last night about being home alone on NYE--I'm feeling a little sad today.
Oh and I forgot to add that when my DD was little, I made her a lot of dresses--making clothes for a child is a lot less time consuming.

oh; sorry
I guess we can't reply to all anymore, huh.
Shy, in college I worked for the costuming department for the theatre.
