So this is week 3 of my saga...was on two weeks of steroids. Doc said its better but not good enough so I have to get an MRI this week. He gave me a different, less potent med and wants to see me again after the MRI.

I'm just having a helluva time. I want to crawl into a hole and not come out.

Thanks Shy. I'm really trying to keep things in perspective here. I hate this almost helpless feeling I have lately. In great news, my SO is coming here in 12 days and he's already talking about how much he wants to help me out. He even offered with school work so I don't fall behind. He says if I fall behind, then I might fail..and that just means more time apart so he's gonna help me. How sweet is that? Not sure what I have for him to help me with...maybe I'll make him pull research for me.

I'm sorry your friend backed out on you. What a rat. I always got frustrated with my friends when they did that to me too. Its really rude and inconsiderate and disappointing too. I hope you still enjoyed your day. And I love the picture, you have a great smile :)

So sorry your knee is giving you all this trouble, Ruby. It seems like those things just add to life's stress and have a way of timing it just when you don't need it!
I'm glad to hear your boyfriend will be there to help you soon. Having people who care can make a world of difference in helping us get better.

Get well soon!

I am sorry to hear that you are still suffering with this and, believe me, I can relate. The MRI is a great idea, though. Most joint problems can be diagnosed this way. Did the doctor say what he is looking for on the films like ligament or cartilege damage?

Hi Jules,

He didn't specify what exactly he's looking for except for 'tears'. So we'll see what this brings.

Scheduled for Wednesday...so we'll see.

Probably meniscal tears but maybe ligaments too. Let us know how it goes. Also - I absolutely love my knee surgeon. I saw 3 other surgeons before picking him. He performed Michael Jordan's knee surgery all those years ago. So - if you need to see an orthopedic surgeon, I would be happy to pass along his info. He strongly believes in trying all non-onvasive methods before attempting surgery. When I had my last of many knee injuries in November of 2004 (imagine spending a Chicago winter on crutches), he put me in physical therapy for 3 months. I still need to have my knee surgically corrected someday but I was able to get back almost to normal with no surgery. So, I think he's the best.

hi Jules,

Thanks for the info. I am really hoping surgery is still a ways off yet. Seems like there hasnt been enough done yet. My parents are too.
