How do you tell the difference?

I used to get chronic headaches thought they were sinus headaches I tended to wakeup with them never remotely thought they were migraines because everything you read about migraines say sensitivity to light, sensitivity to sound etc. and most of my symptoms don't have much to do with that but they did tend to be on one side of the head etc. So finally I went to a neurologist that dianosed me with the migraines.

By the way a lot of traditional doctors such as an ENT, or even a general practioner isn't going to suggest going to a chiropractor for allergies unless they are also very open minded about alternative medicines. I tend to find the western medicine world very poo poo on alternative approaches to ailments...so you might have better luck asking other people who have used a chiro for it than going to a traditional doctor for their advice they tend to not agree with alternative approaches and this falls under that.

My friend is not someone that likes to take a lot of prescription meds, she would rather try alternative things, such as going to the chripractor, relaxation techniques, herbal remedies etc. to try and take care of things.

FOr example she has PCOS, she was on clomid for a while with her first husband to try and get a period so her and he could try to get pregnant, she hated being on clomid, it made her feel as though she was a raving lunatic most of the time and she said her husband never wanted to have sex with her anyway because she was so moody on the clomid. THey subsequently got divorced, so with her new husband she looked into alternative medicines, flax seed oil is something that helps with the symptoms of PCOS as well as primrose oil, she started taking it regularly as well as exercising, then she went to a mafosial massage therapist, the therapist asked her what she was there for she said fertility issues, she went to her twice, the woman massaged her down by where her ovaries would be (I know sounds totally bizarre) but she concieved her child at the end of that very month. Maybe it was just the relaxation of the whole process I don't know but who am I to tell her anything different when the woman tried for over 2 years with one husband and then over a year with the 2nd on the clomid, and then gave up all the prescriptions and did everything holistic and goes to the mofasial therapist twice and gets knocked up. LOL

So she had hurt her back at one point and went to a chiro and had read something about going to go there for allergies, talked about it, decided to give it a shot, it was worth that after all she was spending so much money on allergy meds and sure enough it worked, so now she just goes there and she loves and it and it makes herself feel much better about her body than putting alot of prescriptions in her system.

I'm kind of the same way, if my doctor wants to give me a prescription, I try to see if there are other things I can do and exhaust those things first, I just don't want to become dependent on prescriptions. Although my script for my migraines is a godsend. I take it everyday because it is preventative but I went from headaches pretty much almost daily to once a month at the most sometimes months without a headache.

But whatever you have to do what is right for you. But it was just a suggestion for you to try.

Smile,

Deirdre
