Lonely on the weekends

After several months of not being able to sign on and post on the boards, I've finally made success!

Ok, now that's over, does anyone ever feel a little depressed on the weekends?  Seems like I'm perfectly fine during the work week because I'm busy and my mind doesn't tend to go idle.  I do look forward to the weekends just so I can sleep in!  But when I have nothing planned, I tend to either clean or do laundry, read, or watch a film.  I just settled into my new place after moving a little over a month ago so I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.

I'm just curious if anyone else has felt this way.

I can definitely get lonely in weekends! Especially Sundays. On Saturdays, if I don´t have plans and not visiting my parents (and that is more the rule than the exception), I sleep in, have a late and long breakfast and go out shopping (or just window-shopping). Even if I do not meet anyone I know for coffee or just a chat, it is nice being out and see people. I usually sit down for a while with a coffee/lunch and something to read, and look at people. :-) Then I go home and play music, watch TV/movie and make dinner. Sundays are worse. If the weather is OK, I take a walk or ride my bike, being out a few hours. Maybe bring a book for a reading break.  Then it is nothing the rest of the day.

For me there is lots to do this weekend.  It is Canada Day weekend, so it's 3 days , and also the start of my summer vacation.  The Tall Ships are in the harbour for a few days, Ribfest is on, and there are special planes at the Warplane Heritage Museum.  Lots of  different things to photograph and interesting places to go. But first, I am off to get my hair done.

I wish a pleasant weekend to all of you.

Happy Canada day.  I've been to Canada on Canada Day a couple of times--it was probably by accident, but it was enjoyable.  I think both times I was in Montreal.  I am annoyed that July 4th is on a Thursday.  I bet a lot of people are taking the Friday off to make it an extra long weekend, but I can't afford another day w/o pay.

Thanks for the Canada Day wishes.

It's a shame you can't get yourself a 4-day weekend somehow.  Can you accumulate some overtime and take time off in lieu of overtime pay?  I am fortunate that I am able to work things that way!

Oh those events sound like a lot of fun.  Definitely worth going out & seeing =]  And happy Canada Day to you!

We have our Fourth of July coming up here in the States next week.  And I actually requested that following Friday off from work two months ago!  I tend to sleep in that Friday & maybe hit the gym.

So, you have a 4-day weekend coming up!  That is always exciting to look forward to.  I hope it's great fun!  You certainly were planning well in advance, to ask for the 5th off 2 months in advance!  That's thinking ahead.

My holidays always start this weekend.  I work in the schools so I have the same holidays.  Our schools finished the 28th of June, so this has been my first day off.  It doesn't really seem as if I am on holiday yet.  I am looking forward to Ribfest tomorrow.  There's lots of great food (ribs) and wonderful bands playing all afternoon and evening.  The weather is supposed to be nice, not too hot.  I am meeting my wacky girlfriend there.  We will laugh and eat and talk, and probably take a few pictures.  She shares my enthusiasm for photography. We may even be able to sit in the VIP tent, as a friend is very involved in the planning and usually has tickets to spare.

I hope your upcoming 4th of July celebration is everything you anticipate (and more!)
