I decided I'm going to try and go back on my "meal plan" to drop some more weight before school starts.

If you can, do high fiber, high protein for breakfast and lunch. Makes you feel fuller and keeps it that way for a bit. I always put apples on my desk to catch that mid-morning craving. Fruit with a high-water content makes you feel full too. Hang in there...I read somewhere that your body can get used to sweets and carbs and start craving those. You have to teach it otherwise!

Oh, I hear you!!! I'm trying to lose five pounds (a drop in the bucket, but better than nothing, LOL!) before my 30th HS reunion on August 5, so I started a new eating plan on Sunday. It's not the expense that gets me so much as how much WORK it is to cook--all that *chopping* of vegetables, I hate it!! So much easier to pop a Lean Cuisine in the microwave.

And I agree about the "starving" part...I eat the recommended foods and amounts and I'm hungry again right away. And snacking on carrots doesn't fill me up--I did try celery sticks stuffed with PB yesterday, though, and that wasn't bad...2 pieces of string cheese is another thing that works pretty well as a filling snack.

Sheri Sheri...don't hand chop! LOL...the best thing I have in my kitchen is a little Black and Decker electric chopper. It was $20 and makes doing all the veggies so much easier! You can even chop alot at once and freeze the leftovers for another meal!

Yeah, I know the feeling. I went to my first WW meeting since my injury this week and i have put on 5 pounds. I ahd been used to the reduced calories at the time of the injury but not now and, though I am back on the plan, I am a little hungry. Hopefully I will be done in 2 months with weight loss. Maintenance is so much easier.

Cans and cans of sardines and herring have recently been my favorite snack--at least they are good brain food (try to avoid the smoked and oily ones, though). They are better and cheaper at Trader Joes, if there is one in your area. They have all kinds of "cool" canned fish products.

What she said.

I also eat a handful of nuts for a snack (protein, good fats). High fiber cereal (5 grams or more per serving) in the morning makes a HUGE difference for me. I used to be starving
by 10 a.m. everyday, but the high fiber cereal helps me stay full a lot longer. For lunch, go for lots of healthy veggies and fruits, but make sure to have some whole grain carbs and protein as well to make sure you get full and have balance.

Also, eat slowly. It takes 20 minutes for your brain to get the signal that your stomach is full - so eating slower helps you not overdo.

(Not that I don't give into cravings myself -- I had a huge chocolate donut this morning that I'm regretting).

AJ, enjoying life with C.

Yesterday for breakfast, I had turkey sausage and egg whites.

<< I didn't know that people actually ate those! >>

Haha! I love them, especially with a slice of that German rye bread with seeds (Fitnessbread or something--now sold even in regular supermarkets, health food section). Much tastier than tuna or salmon. Herring is usually better though (or sardines or sprats made into anchovis).

You can do it!!! I have been trying to loose weight..and one idea is.. to sign up one of those 5k/10k runs for a good cause..so then you have inspiration to exercise. I did my 1st 5k ..it felt good. I am thinking about doing half a marathon next year :)
