I am lost on what to get my mom for Mother's Day.

My mom's favorite present ever was one year I made up a coupon book to visit a different ice cream shop each month.

It's not just that she loves ice cream - it was the time spent together.

My mom had no problem telling me what she wants - there is some new soap at L'Occitane that she loves. That's always a nice gift - specialty soaps are a nice pampering thing and they don't have to fit. :)

>>Not one word about the picture.<<
>>She said she hated those gift cards.<<
>>she's taken back jewelry we've gotten or clothes<<
>> I don't know that she'd like that either.<<

It sounds like the bigger issue is that you guys make an effort, but she doesn't seem to appreciate it. I might have thrown up my arms in disgust by now, because it sounds like you can't win either way. You are trying to please someone who sounds unpleasable (just from the description in this post -- obviously, I don't know your mom).

I would go simple and safe and do flowers, take her to lunch, or do the bath items like Jules suggested. Trying to be creative will just be a headache for you and still might not be well received.

If she continues to complain year after year, maybe it's time to go with a simple card and be done with it. Just my 2 cents.

AJ, enjoying life with C.

How about something simple that says how you enjoy spending time with her? I am going to give my mom a back rub and a big hug.... Hope this helps!

I usually like to write a hand written letter expressing how much they mean to me. I think handwritten letters are such a rarity to find now a days. My mom has kept all the letters she receives from me (even the emails) in a folder.

Whenever I see that folder I tell her I will never have the time or energy to do that . She laughs and she says you will also do that. Moms are the best!!
