That really was disgusting...I live in a third-floor apartment with only a box fan, which actually worked ok for sleeping, but before that I literally stretched out on one of our couches and hardly moved, watching TV with my roommate who was doing the same thing. I think I'm going to grab a quick dinner and get drinks with a friend of mine tonight, if only to get into A/C!!
It's a daily average high of 112 where I live during the peak summer months. Nice and warm. Also 340 days of clear blue skies. And by blue I mean blue from horizon to horizon with not a speck in between. Winters can get a bit chilly though with upper 50s and 60s. Sometimes even 40s (brrr.....)
Oh God...I really have northern blood, I just can't do it and the humidity doesn't help either. BUT after it's been cold for a while, 45 is like a heatwave in winter. I always smile to myself when I see people in California walking around with jackets on when it's 60 degrees out. I can take the cold until it gets to be 20 degrees or so, then I just don't want to leave the house. And snow...I do love snow unless I have to shovel it. :)

Clearly we live in alternate universes. 45 is in when frost bite starts to set in !
Actually even though I live in a desert valley winter weather is not far away. A couple of hours north of Phoenix up at a higher elevation is Flagstaff -- gateway to the Grand Canyon. Flagstaff gets an average of 100" of snowfall a year! (several times that of Chicago).
I drove a car for almost two years w/o air, and one of the windows wouldn't even roll down. I remember the summer my sister was building her house. She called me almost in tears b/c she had taken her two young girls to the site to meet with the builder, and wasn't making any progress. She only needed me to watch them for a couple of hours so I decided to stay on their side of town. I took them to the park to eat lunch but there were bee's everywhere, and they were freaking out. It was so hot that day, we were hopping from strip mall to strip mall just to stay cool. They cried almost the entire time we were inside the car and I can't say that I blame them. In hindsight, I should have just taken them back to my condo, but I wasn't thinking. I thought, kids + outdoors = always a good idea. No, not always!
My father made a trip to India not long ago and my mother found a whole slew of these $1 battery operated fans that one can hang around their neck. The way they're made, the cool air comes out the top and cools off your face. He said he couldn't have imagined being over there w/o them. You should check out your local dollar store. It's not perfect, but it's better than nothing . . . especially, in a hot car!
Last night was even more disgusting than the night before...I took off to the movies this time. :) It just takes so much out of me, though...when we got back, I just laid on my bed reading, but I kept falling asleep and generally just felt awful.

I was actually thinking of doing just that!
