It's been a long time since I posted here. It was because I was kind of in a relationship with a ....married man. We met exactly 5 months ago and I posted asking about friendship with married men. You were all right, it was a dangerous thing to do.

Who can resist a man with a Cuban accent?

Not only a Cuban accent, but also a Cuban attitude. Oh man, I don't know how I'll be going out with Canadian men after him. I realized that I do like macho men.

It seems that what he did is pretty common here. There are quiet a few married cuban guys who, while their women in Cuba are waiting for the visa, engage in local relationships. I was really surprised. I used to be pretty naive about these things. And I think women kind of know it. I mean, you have a passionate, high libido man alone in another country, for months. I don't think I would imagine that he was going to be faithful, I would just not think about it.

I guess not everyone takes cheating as something horrible. It's hard on everyone, and I was cheated on in my first relationship and suspect my other ex cheating on me as well. But we had issues so I forgave and concentrate on these issues. Because myself I don't find it horrible, I don't feel all that bad for his W. At least, while she was there. Once she's here, it's another story. And what if she was cheating herself, since she's done that before ?

I just would never want a woman, or a man, to stay in a relationship like the one you are in, because they thought that's all they were worth. I realize that he says he loves you, and that essentially, you can continue on, non-traditionally. However, he's the one with two lovers. Were he in your shoes, would he be okay with that? As long as you know you deserve better, that's my main point. I think you deserve to be in love with a man who puts you, singularly, above all else. I think everyone deserves as much.

Oh non, I definetely don't think that's all I'm worth. The only reason I stayed with him so long was because it looked like it was a real relationship and I admit that I had hopes that it was going to be more. I do respect him more that he's not dropping his wife just because he met someone new even if it means that I can't be with him.

I know that I have to move on. I'm going to start working on it. I'm afraid that he put the bar pretty high and it will be even harder for me to get interested in a man than before....Oh well, we'll see....

I think it's disingenuous to say that the DW was his problem and you shouldn't have to think about her.
