I forgot what it feels like to be on my feet in heels all day long!

I'm impressed that you wore heels on your first day of school - any day of school for that matter! Heels are rough when you are on your feet all day, but there is something about them that makes me feel more powerful when I walk ... good for whip-cracking :)

I usually have two options: Ugly and comfortable or cute and uncomfortable.

Wow, you guys start early! I've probably read somewhere before, but what grade do you teach?

And such is the pain of the heels-wearer. :) I actually wear mine enough that they only hurt when I walk long distances on them, which I sometimes (stupidly) do...once I walked for 45 minutes around the city on new shoes. Stupid.

Ahh, I never put much thought into the harvest. :) I'm just used to September meaning back to school.

I've heard alternating flats and heels is a good way to keep your feet/arches in halfway decent shape...whether or not it's true, I don't know. :)

Yes - then you don't become one of those old ladies who *can't* wear flats because her feet are stuck permanently in heels formation. :)

Did anyone else see the fashion special the other night with Stacey London (of What Not to Wear)? She went in for foot injections -- they inject collagen into the balls of your feet to help cushion them so you can wear heels! Yikes. She also took a "high heels fitness class" that supposedly helps you build your tolerance to tall shoes.

I am all for heels, they are cute, but refuse to wear any taller than three inches. How anyone can walk in 5-inch spikes is beyond me - both my ankles would be broken -- and my nose from falling flat on my face. Good thing I'm tall already. I don't need to be 6'2".

AJ, enjoying life with C.

All my shoes have to lace up. My heels are too small for most shoes, so the shoe rubs the heel till I can't walk. I used to wear flats to school...

...then when I was in the room and shut the door, out came the slippers.

Only this summer was I able to wear some of the cute flip-flops. Otherwise, it's New Balance for me.

I don't close the door to put on my slippers.

Owie. I feel your pain. I have some really cute shoes...but they all have heels. I find thicker heels are easier on my feet than stiletto-style ones...but they ALL hurt after standing in them a long time!
