OK, they say that stating something publicly increases one's sense of responsibilitiy toward achieving it.

Hello and Happy New Year! I am new here, thought it was long overdue that I logged in after having followed your posts with interest for quite some time.

I will continue working on last year´s "mantras", as they worked rather well for 2011:

1. Try something new! Do something I have not dared before, mostly because I never had the courage or self confidence. Last year I finally went on the catwalk on the local annual "fashion show" with my choir. I always thought it looked like a lot of fun, but at the same time scary as so many people looked at you, the lights, maybe I would trip and fall..... But, it turned out to be just fun and not scary at all! Might even say yes this year as well, if asked.

2. Have more fun! Accept social invitations, although not knowing other people there. It might be the chance to meet new people (and hopefully Mr Right), or simply just to have fun. And to go alone if I do not get others to join me. My friends are all so busy with their families, they hardly ever have time to join. But why should I miss out on the fun due to that? To have fun also includes not being "Ms Nice" all the time - by saying No to things I actually do not want to do.

3. Do things NOW. Don´t wait until "tomorrow"/"next week" etc. Especially if the so-called things are not looked upon as fun or interesting, but must be done. This year it first of all means looking closely at my insurances and pension saving, which IMO is ultra-boring. Not to mention washing up, which is my all-time least-favourite house chore. Perhaps I should just buy a dish washer?

Why Your New Year's Resolutions Just Won't Work http://www.huffingtonpost.com/russell-bishop/new-years-resolutions_b_1178610.html?ref=healthy-living The author talks about addressing the source of the resolutions. It is like treating the disease rather than the symptoms.

And on the Eighth Day, God's wife created Paper Plates and she declared, "This is good. This is very good.

Thank you for the nice welcome greetings! Glad to finally be participating instead of just lurking. :smileyhappy: I have been wanting to comment things for a long time, feeling quite qualified after many, many years of singledom. :smileywink:

I used to post here very sporadically a couple of years ago - but the iVillage changes made the boards impossible to use with my dinosaur desktop.
