Kind of a silly and basic question from the old guy that needs some "Miss Manors" help on my space. My daughter showed me the site, and how you can keep pictures there to share with people. (And that it is not all kids and perverts in yellow rain coats.)

When I get a message from someone I do not know and it is not readily apparent that it is spam, I respond asking what made them message me.
99 times out of 100 it is disguised spam and then I flag them as spam.

yea, porn sites, dating sites and "Russian brides" and all the "new bands" aside . .LoL I am thinking Amway type deals. I don't quite put them in the "spam" category in my mind, they simply don't know any better. (-: I however still have no desire to spend time discussing it with them

I'm assuming ego boosting, though I don't get that either. I only add people that I actually want to form a real-life friendship with.
Then periodically, I'll do a clean sweep and get rid of people that haven't successfully fallen into that criteria.

If I don't think their spam and they are set to private, I will add them and check out their myspace (just did that today in fact).
