New look, new outlook

I just came back from the salon where I had at least 10 inches taken off my hair (it's now just a bit longer than chin length). It's my first drastic haircut since probably college (I'm 32), and it feels so good!

I left the salon feeling renewed in spirit as well as look. I have been feeling as droopy as my old hair lately, and I think this was just the change I needed to pick myself up a bit. Maybe I'll have enough energy to start dating again as well -- all part of the spring rebirth thing, I guess.

This also made me realize how little I pamper myself these days. It was a nice treat to go to a place where they offered me tea, gave me a scalp massage, shampoo and cut. I usually write that stuff off as frivolous, but it sure was nice today.

Just had to share. :) Yea!

That's great to hear! I love going to a nice hair salon, haven't done it in awhile but you always feel so good afterwards and I think cutting off the hair always symbolizes a new start and new outlook (cutting off dead-weight). When I would go through a breakup, I would always cut my hair shoulder length or dye it or both.

Ditto here! LOL! My last break up I cut off my hair and dyed it red. I looked like a punk rocker! That was too drastic!! Glad to say my hair has grown back since then! ;-)

The most drastic one I ever did was after a college breakup. I chopped it boy short (shaved up the back) and dyed it red (I'm blonde).

This one is not quite that radical, but had a similar effect mentally. :)

Good for you! When I got dumped last year I went and chopped 12 inches off of my hair and donated it to locks of love, it was a great feeling! I love that we can do these things for ourselves to make us feel good about stuff :)

I wish I had had enough to donate, but it wasn't quite that long. It's great you did that. :)

Not to burst y'all's bubble but I have heard that men like long hair. I always feel a little bad when I have to cut my hair.

Every man is different. And no man is gonna dictate how I wear my hair.

My hair is unruly, hates humidity, naturally wavy in weird ways, only really "curls" under certain rainy conditions, kinks up in the wind, never sits flat like other girls, and only tolerable in the winter. And much easier to take care of when it is short. Toss some wax in, throw my head upside down and shake it out. Perfect! The only reason I'm growing it out is for a change and to have a nice style for my wedding. I'm sure it'll be chopped off not long after.

TG, you go girl! Sometimes a small change is just what the doctor ordered.
