New Year's Eve

We have talked about this before but now NYE is coming upon us and for the last three years I have done something. Now I have no plans .

There are a few things going on but I dont want to do them.. I sit here hoping and wishing for some sort of invitation but zero, nada and nothing so far..

Time is running out and worse comes to worse I will go over to the local pub where there is a band and walk in alone and get a drink .. I have written to some girls I used to hang out with to see what they are doing but no answer there either.

I dont want to sit home with Dick Clark Or Ryan Seacrest ..and watching that ball drop in Times Square and watch all the people in NYC freezing their pippies off..

I can understand not wanting to be alone on this night, even though going out is more dangerous and much more expensive than any other night.

I've always felt the most exciting aspect of the New Year is making new intentions for what you want to create. Too bad there aren't more parties about that, wouldn't that be fun?

Going to a pub wouldn't be bad idea...at least you are partaking in some of the fun.

Tomorrow will be a new day and a New Year.

No date, just going to a house party and enjoying the evening with family and friends. :)

I don't know if I'm a stick in the mud or what, but several years back, going out on NYE began feeling more like a chore than a treat.

I've spent more than $85 for a night out (if you see a play in NYC the tickets are about $75 and I paid more than that for Cirque de Soleil in Las Vegas) but if I'm going to spend a lot, I want to make sure that I'm going to have a good time--either a really nice date or go somewhere w/ a good group of friends to do something fun. It's kind of rare that a party where you don't know people is going to be worth that much money.

The places around here where I live are charging like 90.00 for one night for a buffet but a cash bar.. So you are only getting food and maybe a soda.. that I think is way too much and the singles events they put you with people you dont know.

WEll?one of my friends said she didnt know what the girls were doing so I guess

I read a blurb online from our local news station about the "events" going on around town on Saturday.

I think you are right--it's a lot of media hype that most people are having a really great time but I think most couples (except maybe the very young or people who are newly dating) stay home.

I have no plans at the moment, and I'm not bothered by it. I haven't had an offical date for NYE in oh, let's see...forever? I really do like NYE and have done things with friends through the years. Of course I would love a date, but then, I'd like a date most any weekend.

My last single NYE I went to a friend's dinner party that ended at like 10pm. Driving past a pub that pours the best Guinness ever (my fave beer), I decided to pop in for a quick one by myself. Self conscious, I sat right next to the band kind of pretending that I might be a "date" or gf of one of the band members. After their set, two of the band members approached my table and joined me! I ended up chatting w/them in between sets and had a coffee at an all night coffee place (Tim Hortons) with them. Unfortunately it was one of the akward "two guys and both not sure who might be more interested" type situations and I had guts to make a move....

Since then I've done precisely NOTHING since being in a r/ship. They have a Latin salsa dance thing down the street...and I LOVE salsa dancing...but DH would never do that and we don't have a sitter...

so my point is that the whole NYE thing is overblown. Only ppl willing to spend a lot of money have fun places to go or things to do :)

My phone kept correcting it to "puppies" so I'm wondering if that's what she meant. I kinda like pippies, though! I'd say it's any bit that can be frozen off in the cold.
