A few things that have been on my mind...
First of all, there's this adorable guy on my morning bus who, like I've said, practically has "my type" written on his forehead. However, how the heck does one manage to talk to a guy on the bus without being creepy??
Second of all, my birthday is this Saturday, so we're looking to go out. One of my best friend's birthday is the night before and we have many of the same friends, so we're all going out together. Do any of you Bostonians or MA residents have any ideas?? My friend whose birthday it also is wants to go to a little bit fancier, more upscale lounge/club-type place and I'm all for that, too, so long as it's not COMPLETELY pretentious, expensive, and/or stuffy/boring. However, many of my friends are the more laid-back, bar type of people, so I'm not sure what to do...I tend to think they wouldn't really mind since it's a birthday thing, but I still feel a little weird about it. Opinions?

Welcome to my world! ;-)
Argh...I'm turning 23!! :) What happens when I turn 33??? Well, one friend has a grad party to go to in NH (more thanunderstandable and pre-planned), a couple have chosen one of their boyfriend's birthday instead, a couple made some really random lame excuses...sometimes I feel like I should have planned even further ahead, but people KNOW my birthday! They know I'll want to go out! Come on now!! :) It's not like this sprung up out of nowhere.
In all seriousness, though, I really don't expect people to spend a lot of money. We just wanted to get dressed up and go some place nice. This place actually DOES seem nice versus some of the underage hangouts on Lansdowne that charge some absurd, $15-25 cover, then another $7 for a beer...blech. I haven't really been down there since freshman year of college...Jillian's is ok and I've heard Bill's is fun, but other than that...anyway, I digress. People don't need to buy me gifts, I'd appreciate a drink, but it's not necessary...just being together and having fun, that's all I ask for.
Before this past year (which was 30- I think some people felt a little obligated), the last time I got people to actually go out on my birthday was when I turned 21.
I didn't get that impression at all.
For me, I like both. I half wanted to go to the bar I mentioned in South Boston (of The Departed fame...oh wait, that's not a good thing :) ), which is more laid back, but then it's way out of everyone's way, while this is downtown. It being more convenient for everyone and being in the middle of things then means it'll be more expensive, especially in Boston. There are those nights, however, where I just feel like getting dressed up and dancing like a nutcase. :) This definitely doesn't seem like a quiet place; in fact, I've heard that the music can get a little too loud (which is fine by me, haha). I've gone to a similar place downtown and had a TON of fun. It was one of the few clubby-type places where I felt like I could dance without fear of being groped on swooped upon the moment I started dancing.
Boston is certainly an expensive town, but hey, at least it's cheaper than NY. :)
