I dont think it calls for magic dust...but when the heck am I gonna use it right?
So the folks on the What Not To Wear board have me all screwed up on what kind of shoes I should get for my new dress. Since you ladies seem like the sophisticated, put-together types I need a 3rd opinion. ;) Red, silver, gold, navy...oh the possibilities....so anyhow here is the dress:
Edited to say that the dress is navy, not black as the picture appears. Its difficult to tell in the pic but it is navy.
Here are the shoes I have in mind in either navy, silver or gold...

http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/11882862/c/935.html in Gold

http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/11996194/c/632.html Silver
Or any other suggestions? Somebody on the other board said it would be a prom reject if I went with silver. I'm too old to be a prom reject! I'm not brave enough to try red..Gold seems ok but not a real strong metallic...any suggestions?
Thanks!
Ruby

well the dress is black so i would definitely NOT go with the navy-colored shoes. metallics are "IN" now, but if i were you, i would try to match the color of the beads on the dress with the color of your shoes. the picture of the beads seem to be silver? if so, go with the silver-colored shoes so it brings out the sparkle of the beads. if you can't decide, the default color shoe, i would say, should be black.
good luck!
The dress is navy. Its very hard to tell in the picture but it is navy.

Navy is a hard color, I think.
My favorites are the first ones- the navy b/c of the beads.
Ruby,
I would say that it depends on what kind of bag you plan on wearing and what kind of image you would like to project. Navy shoes, in my opinion, would be too much of the same. Work your accessories, girl! Besides, then you get into the problems of matching tones. If you really want to go with navy, then dye-to-match. Here is how I always handle the quandry of finding the right shoes for a dress: I look for the purse first. I find a clutch that really speaks to me and accents the dress and take my shoe cue from there. I also think about what kind of shoes I want - open toe or sandals or slingbacks, etc. Also, with that dress, I would stick to a simple shoe because of the details on the frock. If you want to wear a metallic shoe, then I would recommend a muted satin or a less shiny metallic leather. Either gold or silver can work with a navy dress but I do think that gold looks nicer. A bronze might be nice. Like:

I am sure that there are plenty more but Zappos is dangerous and I don't have hours to spend browsing. :)
Hope that helps!
Is the dress navy?? I cannot tell, but am thinking it is...
Navy is a hard color. If it were me, I would go with gold because you are not likely to find navy dress shoes that should not be worn by anyone under 50. Gold is trendy and you would be able to wear them with other things as well. You can find some that aren't too metallic. Put it all together with a matching purse, too.
Try DSW, they have a lot of options and not badly priced either.

Hi Ruby!
I just replied to your original WSIW post as well, but I do love the dress and absolutely endorse silver for the shoes. Of the three silver options in your list above, I like the 2nd (Kenneth Cole) and 3rd (RSVP) the best. Since the heels are different sizes, I guess it depends on how much you expect to be on your feet when you're out on the town with BF. ;)
Trust me, there will certainly be no "prom reject" looking back at you in the mirror on that night! :)
The navy (first option)
No panty hose with sandals!
I vote for the first pair of silver ones. (Partially because I go for things that are easy to walk in -- I can't manage anything without a slingback or ankle strap).
But, I know the WNTW folks would say, if you're petite, don't go for an ankle strap because it shortens your legs.
But, definitely silver!
AJ, enjoying life with C.
