OLD and the game of chance

Saw this today. For me, this is the answer to those who encourage single women to go online, as if it's a sure thing you'll meet someone (special). Fact is, it's not a sure thing in real life either, and I think luck is often underrated.

When all you have to work with is a set of pictures and a few sometimes poorly-written descriptions that are only the surface details about a person, the effectiveness of online dating then has more to do with taking chances on a person than just landing on the “right profile.” It’s a game of chance, mostly, though pretty often you should immediately know what a person’s deal is and if you have a strong gut response, it tends to be correct.

IMO I think you have hit on an important point. Niche groups have a better chance than "shotgunning".   As there are many different sites catering to different interests and likes it also is finding one where your target audience is most likely to be.

Aside from the groups that cater to a certain religion, which I wouldn't be interested in because I'm not that religious, I don't know of many niche OLD sites.  Of course now I'm old enough to look for "senior people meet" or whatever they call it now. But other than that, what are some other niche sites?

I've used dating sites for plus size people, vegetarians (back when I was one), and left wing activists. Didn't have any luck with them though. Okcupid had the best results for me by far.
