Do you know anyone who really is interested in "only dating" and not looking for a serious relationship? And if you do know someone like that, do they date sporadically, or try to date often?

Yeah, I know some people like that. Mostly they are men and don't want to be "burdened" by a relationship. They are usually the type of people that are too busy or have been hurt before, and usually only want sex from someone. I know two of my guy friends off hand...both are dating single mothers. Neither of them want kids of their own, so for some reason they think they are safe dating single mothers, because these women already have kids.

A girlfriend of mine tried doing the "just sex" thing with a guy, well that was 10 months ago and now she's in love with him.

I don't know if there is such a thing as "just dating"...I know, personally, I date to find "the one". I'm not a casual dater, but that's just me. I'm way to emotional to just be casual.

It must be my age (33), but I actually cannot think of a single person I know (myself included) who is only dating and not looking for a serious relationship.

My roommate is trying to do it. She is dating two different men right now. Both of them seem to be a lot of fun. They both know she is dating, and not committed to either of them but after every date I hear how much she likes Bob or how much she likes Joe. And then she gets frusterated because she doesn't know which she likes more. I think dating to meet someone may take numerous dates with many different men (or women) but when you meet someone thats worth going on the 3rd date with the others just kind of slip away and you lose time for them. But dating more than one for a lengthy period of time gets difficult. Oh and not too mention the fact that they randomly call when the other is over and show up when the other is over. Sometimes its funny to watch her squirm. Glad I'm not there.

I'm curious. How did she meet these two men?

I know of a few people who are just dating and not looking for anything serious. Most are men, but I do have one female friend who dates a lot of men, usually for a few weeks and moves on to others. I've never asked her if she is looking for a relationship, but her behavior indicates to me that she is not.

The men I know like that like hooking up with as many women as possible and not getting too attached to any one in particular.

One of them she met at work, she doesn't work directly with him though. And the other is a friend of her sister in law. I think he was at their house the same time as her and they got to talking.
