OT: Anyone watching Girls on HBO?

I don't actually even pay for HBO but my provider had free sneaks over the weekend.  I'm ashamed to admit that I watched 20 episodes from Friday Night through Sunday night which were two seasons, half an hour each episode.

I really dug the writing, the dialogue.  I love that the female lead is not by most standards, thin.  I love that her breasts are not large and are clearly, real.  Physically, she's your average 26 year old . . . cute, but nothing special really - not outwardly.

However, for those who've seen the show:  does it seem over sexualized to you?  Most of the girls are pretty promiscuous - especially the lead.  I guess what I'm getting at is, I'd be mortified if my nieces were to see it and think that something were wrong with them if they are not as promiscuous.  It's a shame, because the writing is so clever (yet, in my opinion laden with expletives - and I'm not religious) and I love that the girls watching see more of the norm where it pertains to body type.

Just curious ;)

I don't watch it, but I've read about it and the things I've read are exactly what you said. Very oversexualized.

It reminds me of something our school counselor said a few weeks ago. She was leading a girl's youth group at church- mostly young teens. She asked them how they knew a date had gone well (I can't remember how it came up). They told her that if a date was going well, they'd go back to his place and get in his hot tub. They had obviously been watching too much Blind Date.

Do these kids know that most people don't have a hot tub?  lol  Reminds me also of Jersey Shore--my son used to watch that & I'd tell him, you know in real life, most of the time girls don't go home from a bar with guys they just met & that is not good behavior.
