Tetanus always hurts because it goes into the muscle. It's a lot better now than it was years ago because the needles they use these days are thinner, when I went to college in 91 I had to get a tetanus the needles back then were a lot thicker. I remember she stuck me with the needle and my legs were shaking and she asked me to go pee in a cup and I commented about my legs shaking she said "Oh your fine" so I go into the bathroom and I'm feeling so woozy that all I can imagine is that I'm going to pass out while I'm trying pee in a cup and pass out in my own urine (yes this is what goes on in my mind) So I walk down the hall and the nurse says "You are as white as a ghost" yeah heaven forbid anyone listens to me.
But about 5 years ago I had to have it down and it didn't hurt as much and I mentioned it to the nurse mentioned the above story and she said it was because they have improved the needles made them thinner so it's less painful now. Although you still get the soreness especially with tetanus because it goes into the muscle but good grief I'll never forget that experience as long as i live.
I really hate shots for that very reason.
