I remember as a child we would be able to leave our front doors unlocked and feel safe. We could walk around the corner to our friends house without our parents worrying if we would get there ok. No more. Today, a 19 year old boy walked into the mall next to where i work and opened fire killing 9 people and wounding others. This makes me sick. Everywhere outside the mall , including my work, was on lockdown. You see these things happen on the news and think how lucky that its not your town. But today it was my town.

"I saw this! You have to wander if she was making him cute pointy white hats and teaching him proper cross burning as well? LoL I know its not funny, but its not like dad got his son a hunting riffle after years of father son outings and lessons in responsible gun safety. She just up and bought a kid a bunch of weapons . . . what's up with that? (-;"

Exactly. Made me feel REALLY safe - I used to work for that school district before I moved.

I have a friend who lives on top of a mountain in central PA. His dad taught him how to hunt - he can use a crossbow, a rifle, and re-build a transmission. He knows how to use the weapons SAFELY.

Parents that just up and buy their kid a bunch of weapons make some teachers want to up and do the same thing. There is a teacher in Oregon who got a lot of grief because she is licensed to carry a concealed weapon - to protect her from her ex-husband, who had come to "visit" her at school on occasion during an acrimonious

I know. I would pay money to see someone stop an armed robbery and say, "Excuse me. May I see your permit to carry, please?" or even, "Didn't you know those guns aren't legal?"

Regarding global warming...of course someone could use the information to manipulate for his or her own personal benefit or power, but that's true of most issues. The fact of the matter is that it's something I can't go out and test myself (though seeing some of the crazy weather around helps a bit) since I'm sure as hell not a climatologist or even tremendously good at any sort of science, so I HAVE to get my information from somewhere or remain blissfully ignorant. I choose the former and I suspect that climatologists are a significantly better source than politicians. Hey, Romney was my governor, I'm always skeptical of everything that comes out of a politician's mouth. :)

I'm not anti-gun per se, but I have read articles quoting people from other countries saying they think it's absolutely bizarre how common gun ownership is here and that any old Joe can get a gun. I'm not saying they're right and we're wrong, but I'd be willing to put money on it that those countries have lower rates of violent crime. No, I don't think we should ban guns (obviously), and something should be done about the SOURCE of the problem, but that doesn't mean that NOTHING should be done about gun control either, in my humble opinion. You mentioned education, I'm sure that would help. I'm no expert on the topic, but to me ours seems a flawed system.

Belive it or not I agree. (-; I think EVERY system is inherently flawed. For one person to get what they want, someone else loses. (-: With large issues like global warming a LOT of climatologist are not sold and unlike Al Gore who has stakes in a company that will profit from his investments in Carbon Credits do not consider the debate closed. And THAT is the point, the debate is OPEN, the science involved is young and imperfect.

So reasonable reaction and questions .. if we are going to spend a Trillion dollars . . . where would it do the most good . .. paying grants, taxing companies, discouraging job producing growth . .or health care? Look, take a hundred people and get there minds OPEN and you could come up with a thousand reasonable questions. When you read some of the treaties, and consider some of the proposed actions per your own concern presented NOT as solutions from climatologist, but as actions taken by politicians . . .all I am saying is read them with a critical mind. Is it solving a problem, or is it a revenue generator or a power grab. Does it benefit one group of people at the expense of others? Much of what is currently out there does not give me warm and fussy feelings. The very fact that "Carbon Credits" became a real word .. LoL tells me I am being scammed. If
