Is there particular name that you prefer to be called by the opposite sex?

Is it your name only, or do you not mind references such as "dear" or "sweetie"?

Are there any names that you despise being called, no matter how long you've known someone?

I don't mind dear or sweetie from a boyfriend (not a stranger), but I will NEVER be called "baby" or "babe". It's just degrading, like he sees me as a child.

Actually, I am struggling with this b/c my "new" name (I changed my name from Go 2 yrs ago) has the nickname Dee. I don't think of myself as a Dee and it sounds strange to me.

I actually don't mind "babe", J calls me that...but he used to say "wow, you're a hot babe!" or "sexy babe" so in that reference, I kinda like it ;-)

Most bf's call me "babe" or "honey/hon". I only use "sweetie" when I want something...lol. Dear is something old ppl call me...hopefully not a bf...maybe a husband, much later in life!

My ex used to call me "Baby" and I used to call him the same. But its shorten to "Be" most of the times. Any other pet names are only used when we want something from each other or we made a mistake and we want to rectify it.

We use our own names when we're in an argument hehehe....

Also since he is a Leo, I used to call him "Baby lion" (which is actually lion cub I know hehehe) and wrote it in most cards (no I'm not 14!)...and I used to be his "Tweety" (coz its my fav cartoon character) and he wrote it in my cards as well. These names only came up in writing.

If I ever get into another relationship, it all depends I guess what we would call each other. I would probably still use "Baby" or "Be" unless he objects.

Just curious - how might one use "lion cub" incorrectly?

I did not realize there was an incorrect usage. LOL

My pet name "Cuddles" is kinda cute.

I know that "babe" can be considered degrading "if used incorrectly", but it can also be endearing. My friend has liked being called "babe"... kinda like "oh baby you rock my world" LOL.

You mean like if a guy calls women collectively "babes"?

Is that how you mean "incorrectly"? I have an ex who gives me the creeps b/c he was very manipulative and didn't like the word no from me. He called me baby, and if anyone says it now, I cringe. It's just a little creepy to me!

I am glad that the guy is your ex now - too bad that he was so nasty. Yes, I can now understand why you cringe.

Actually, I was thinking something different. I think there is such a thing as a "bevy of babes" which I consider to be a group of attractive women. I wonder what people call a group of attractive guys? Chippendales? LOL

When I think of "incorrect" usage, I was thinking of it in a manipulative or controlling way such as "yo babe - fetch me a beer" - something of a macho style. I consider the tone of the word "babe" in this context the equivalent of "wench" - something that I personally consider derogatory but others do not have a problem with. You hate "babe" & I hate "wench".

There you have it,

Ahhh..I see..so "Honey, get me a beer" is okay!

Just teasin' ya. I guess we all have our triggers. I usually try to make mine known to a guy I'm dating right away so he doesn't have to see my reaction if he calls me that. It's not good.
