Hi there everyone,

Hope you had a good week while I was away. I was in Dallas for work but flew to Austin on Friday afternoon where I visited with my oldest friend. He went to a different high school near me but I met him in high school. He and went to this great tex-mex place for dinner on Saturday night. Our waiter was a guy that I went to high school with and - this is the funny part - I couldn't remember for sure but thought that I had made out with him my freshman year. So I asked him about it and he said that he couldn't remember either but thought that we probably had. Heehee.

He's still pretty hot. Sigh. We exchanged emails and promised to keep in touch but a lot of good that will do me since he lives in Texas. :)

Jules

PS - Stacey, I thought of you when I bought this great belt: http://store.yahoo.com/crybabyranch/reblcobe.html

Jules you should have a blog. Narcissism at it's best. :-)

Hehe - well, I certainly have enough opinions to support a blog. There are two problems, though. For one thing, I can't do that kind of stuff because of my job. And really, I'm just too lazy.

Besides, as important as I think my opinions are, I don't expect anyone else to. The self-congratulatory nature of some blogs is so ridiculous that it's not even amusing. I prefer to read the funny ones like www.gofugyourself.com and Manolo's blog. I get enough opinions on politics, immigration, and labor issues at work.

I agree. Some of them are just too much. I read an article recently that said an increasing number of people are relying strictly on blogs for their news source. As much as I have issues with the media, that thought scares me a little more.

I have a blog but I do it to keep in touch with family and friends. I read other blogs and Im like why would you write this or *show* that (lots of dirty blogs out there, geez). I don't take myself too seriously and LOTS of those folks do.

And people that use blogs for news...thats scary.

My 15 year old sister does that blogging thing.

My sister does it too and she puts her real name, location, job, etc etc. I completely disagree with that. Teenagers are stupid and put stupid crap out there.

Its like anything you do on the net. Dating, messageboards, blogs...do it smart.

It scares me a LOT more. I read blogs, but only ones associated with editorial journals like National Review and The Nation. I try to read each end of the political spectrum as well as the in-between and take it all with the proverbial grain of salt. But I am lucky in that I have much more time to be informed than the average American because my job demands it. I actually feel like it is kind of a luxury.

Yeah, it's pretty much an entertainment thing only for me. How people can make a living doing it amazes me but I guess there are good writers out there that don't profess to know anything special, they just write about what they do know. As far as news though, I think it's yet to become a respectable source.
If I had a blog, I don't think I'd expect anyone to read it. But I guess there could be a few voyers out there that might find my life amusing.

I'll say this - while I don't think that blogs are a good news source in and of themselves, they have recently served an invaluable role in keeping the mainstream media honest. Case in point - the "60 Minutes" Rathergate fiasco.

I have a blog on my myspace page (if you wanna check it out, my URL is www.myspace.com/dancinfreak05), but I don't provide TMI - I put my first name, pictures, and the city I live in, but I don't put anything specific...well, except I have a link to the club I like to go country dancing at, but I'm not too worried about that - there are several "big dudes" there that I'm friends with who look out for me, kind of like having my own "entourage."
