Last night I was told (by a guy) that I was giving off "don't talk to me" signals.

Oh, come on now. I never make women nervous. I am a big ole softy. The truth is I'd probably be more nervous than any woman. Just watch where the legs go and don't look in my eyes.

I definitely agree that how we relate can depend on how we were raised. I have always had as many or more male friends as female, so being friendly isn't the problem. I've also typically worked in male dominated fields, so with coworkers, and when we're just chatting, it's no biggie.
But, getting beyond that, to flirting with the guy I'm actually interested in, I'm helpless. That's why I get so mad at myself. I can handle talking to a group of 50 men, but the one guy I like comes around and I start babbling like a fool!

I'm with you. I do the same thing. I used to work with about 200 men and never once had a problem talking to them. One guy that I'm interested comes around and I forget the English language.
