My little sister (14) says she, like, really needs scary movies for Christmas/her birthday.

The original "Halloween" is always a good one, and "The Shining" (w/ Jack Nicholson). That still gives me the creeps!

"The Sixth Sense" was on last night and I watched it AGAIN. That movie is a masterpiece of eerie, scary music, dialog and atmosphere. Whenever it comes on tv I can't resist watching it.
When I was in my early 20's I saw a movie made in 1963 called "The Haunting" with Claire Bloom and Julie Harris- then I had to walk home alone in the dark - I remember being really, really scared. The 199-something remake was awful, though.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Night of the Living Dead, Nightmare on Elm Street, Carrie, Halloween, Dead Alive, Evil Dead 2- there are so many good, essential horror movies.
