Red Head Attitude Adjustment

Yes you heard me right. I took the plunge and put red into my brunette locks. It's quite a change and pretty freakin sexy if I do say so myself.

I feel pretty good right now. Sometimes a little (ok a lot) of change is just the trick eh?

Anybody else do stuff like this to get a new attitude about life??

I've never permanently dyed my hair, and I learned in college that (drunken) highlights aren't a good idea.

That's cool! I like when people do drastic stuff, even if it's just drastic for them.

Last fall, after about ten years of highlighting my hair, I went back to my "natural" color. I say "natural" because, in 10 years, the color had changed quite a bit. At first it was really strange to get used to but now I love the maintenance (which is none) compared to highlights. I still may go back to highlights one day, but for now it's good. Change is good.

I certainly do. When I reached 25 pounds of weight loss, I treated myself by springing for a haircut, highlights and lowlights (at a cost of $165 - ugh). I felt so damned hot when I left that salon with less fat on my thighs and different color in my hair.

I have been a redhead on and off for years and really like it. I have green eyes and the red hair seems to bring that out. But lately I have decided to embrace my brown locks and only highlight - I don't know why and I am sure that I will change my mind at some point. My hair has also been black and cut in a 1920s style bob. I loke to change up my look and see how differently people perceive me.

Good for you!

I was just thinking today that I might chop off my hair. (Not all of it, but maybe 3-4 inches).

I am definitely in need of an attitude adjustment, and you may have just inspired me to go ahead and take that plunge.

It's funny... I used to do that kind of thing all the time in college, and I've gotten a lot more tame as I've gotten older. Time to do something slightly drastic. :)

See I've gotten less tame as I've aged (not that I am old by any means..haha) and would have NEVER had the style cut and hair that I have now. Its cut short and I straighten it and then flip my head over and mess it up. I would have NEVER messed up my hair on purpose about 3 or 4 years ago. I was all about the "polished" look. The windy weather today just added to the craziness on my head thought I still take a great deal of pride and time in getting it messed just right...haaaaa. I don't make sense..anyways moving on.

Good for you Jules, I would have done the same thing to celebrate all the hard work. I do hope to do that with a new wardrobe soon when I lose the weight I want. I spent $115 yesterday (eek) but I figure its ok to splurge. I told my SO about it last night. He's coming to see me in 3 weeks, hope he digs it.

Anyhow, the steroids are causing me to lose weight. Which I found to be strange but I'm not complaining.

Steroids will do that. I actually gained back 4 pounds since I last weighed in which was 3 weeks ago. That first week I was really good and lost weight. Then I ate whatever I wanted when I was in DC - drank martinis too which are loaded with calories. Then last week, I drowned my pain and sorrow in ice cream, pudding, and mashed potatoes smothered in butter. It probably made the recovery more bearable and there isn't a whole lot of healthy soft food, so screw it. It was worth it. :-)

I am back on the diet track as of this morning and took off my last nicotine patch today (I only bought a week's worth). I was decided that I was going to go back to smoking and quit on my previously planned date of August 1st (after my travel is done and when I am taking a week long vacation to just vegitate). But my aunt, a lifelong smoker and breast cancer survivor, has been in intensive care since Sunday night on a ventilator. She went into the hospital with pneumonia but there is something else going on and we don't have a final diagnosis yet. But I have my suspicions. It's scary.

Naturally, I have dark blonde hair and as the older I get, the more red my hair gets. It runs in the family because we're Irish. But I went to get my highlights done this weekend and the guy put red lowlights in my hair, which is really kinda cool looking. I guess he wanted to bring the red out along with the blonde. Even though it's subtle, it really makes me feel great. Here's to being a feisty red head! Cheers :)

My hair is the same. It's a dark blonde with red highlights. My mom was a towhead until she reached 18 and then it started to get red. So I take after her just darker. I didn't realize it was an Irish trait.

I am Irish and German and my medium brown hair is from the German side and my green eyes from the Irish side. I naturally have both blond and red highlights in my hair - but the highlights and lowlights they do at the salon are more apparent. I have to say that this is the best set of highlights I have ever gotten. They are noticable but natural looking - I really love them. I have to see how much a touch up is going to cost because I don't know whether I will be able to spare the expense to keep them up on a regular basis.
