Regrets....

I know people say regrets are a waste of time. But i'm just curious what has happened in YOUR life that you regret. Maybe you broke things of with a great guy, or didn't study hard enough your freshman year. There's so many different things. Here are a few of mine:

- I never learned how to fully play an instrument
- I stopped working out after i lost 15 lbs ( it all came back)
- I went on to get my GED instead of a high school diploma
- I didn't start college until i was 25

I'm sure I have many more, but please share what yours are!

There's a quote- something like "You regret the things you don't do more than the things you have done."

Honestly I don't really have any regrets. The things I have done in my life have shaped me to the person I am, the good, the bad and the ugly. I learn from my mistakes, and the things that I wish to do I try to do and I don't want to look back and wish I had done anything differently so I don't really regret anything.

II know it's not entirely healthy to have regrets but I do. I have a lot of regrets, but the big one is this:

I regret that I squandered my 20s "having fun," (e.g. going to parties and 'finding myself') when I should have been completing my college degrees. Because of that decision, I am in my 30s (now late 30s) only now finishing up. My student loans will be following shortly rather than being close to paid off.

I kick myself almost every day for that. When I see middle 20-somethings who seem to have it all together, have their own house and have started up a family, I kick myself for wasting time. Not to mention, I feel like I'm "between worlds" - I'm a 30-something but living like a 20-something, yet

I'd be interested in seeing the second half of each of those sentences.

For example:

I never learned how to fully play an instrument...but I plan to take guitar lessons this year.

I stopped working out after I lost 15 lbs...so I know that next time I start, I need to make it a lifestyle change.

I didn't start college until I was 25...and it gave me the opportunity to see the world from a different perspective and enter school for something I am truly interested in and I am taking my degree seriously.

For the GED, you can rephrase it: I am so proud that I took the time to complete my GED, because it allowed me to go on to college and improve my life.

I think our past is what has brought us to this exact moment in time and exactly who we are now. Sure, maybe you followed a different path than others, but it makes you YOU. In a lot of ways, your experiences might be richer than the people who followed the straight-line path.

Oh my, i think this topic i posted may have been taken out of context. Though there are things i wish i'd done differently, i'm not depressed about them and sulking over wishing i could change them. I was thinking people might respond with " I wish i had bought that honda instead of the toyota" or something like that. This was meant to be fun. And for those who say they don't have ANY regrets ever. No offense, but i think its hooey. Im sure there have been multiple times you've came back from the store thinking, "hmm maybe i shouldnt have grabbed those 3 candy bars." Lets have fun people!

Hmm,

I regret I was shy, not very outgoing, with a boy that I liked and now I missed that window - oops

I regret I can't play any music on anything, let alone read it somedays

I regret I let myself get so hurt by a close friend who I really should stop referring to in that term

But - I've learned, I've grown, and best of all, I'm moving on! ^-^

This is a good idea, I think. Everyone has made mistakes thus we have regrets just cause we like things to go right, and they don't. I think it's good to admit it and go on with things as they are now.

Yeah I was going to say the same thing. Little things in life, like I wish I would have picked up milk this morning rather than waiting until I get off work,
